TW// anxious thoughts,

---------

Everything was fine. Or it was meant to be fine. John was back and he was safe, everyone got away unharmed and they had managed to get away from the Navy prison before anyone noticed...Yet here he was, standing and leaning against the railing of the Albatross staring at the sea in front of him.

Gillion couldn't shake his unease...He wasn't supposed to get overwhelmed by emotions this badly. Everything he knew and he had been told was so decided and definite. Emotions had no place in his role of being the Champion of the Undersea, he always believed this. He supposed that's why his talks with Eden meant so much to him; he could rant and vent out all of his insecurities and doubts to her, only for her to listen and comfort him. He knew she'd never tell anyone about his vulnerable moments. He was allowed to be Gillion before The Champion of the Undersea for once. It was refreshing. On the overseas, it was so much more different. There was no preparation for the unstructuredness of life aboard the Albatross, or even when he was just floating in the sea aimlessly for Gods-know-how-long.

Gillion needed structure. He needed direction. He didn't know what to do without it. So when he and the others overheard the passing conversation of Navy officers talking about the Undersea, much less, talking about knowledge of the Capitol? Gillion had to fight every instinct to run out and get more information, instead, he kept hidden along with his friends. And then suddenly all of the attention was drawn to John being back and safe, which of course, Gillion was ecstatic about, he cared very much for John's wellbeing and safety! It was just unfortunate that Gillion couldn't fully share and embrace the high spirits of his friends. He instead had to hold back his worries and anxieties and feign comfort with what little he knew of the Navy's plans for the Undersea. For his home. Which, of course, led him to now. Still silently staring out at the sea.

He glanced up at the moon, which seemed to be looking down, almost out of pity for him. Gillion let out a bitter scoff, shaking his head and returning his gaze back to the sea. If the Navy knew of the Undersea, of the Capitol, already...It's only a matter of time for what he had feared ever since Caspian mentioned the expansion of owned land of the Navy, including their home. His anxieties bubbled in his chest as his head swarmed with seemingly uncontrollable intrusive thoughts. He never should've come up here. He should've stayed in the Undersea, he should've stuck to his daily training sessions. He'd be much better to fight off the Navy. He'd be there, at least. Up here, he couldn't do anything. Not that he knew much of the Navy's plans, anyway. Gillion should be there to protect his home. To protect Eden. What kind of Champion would he be to let his home get destroyed by the evils he swore to purge? What kind of brother would he be to-

Gillion jumped as he heard a soft noise from his belt, seeing that the conch shell he had was alerting him of someone trying to contact him. Gillion turned and looked to the Crescent Moon, seeing a familiar figure leaning against the rails staring back at him. Gillion slowly grabbed the shell, bringing it to his finned ear as he made his way to the other side of the Albatross to look back at...
