//Riptide..!

*this is a draft..!*

So I can't stop thinking about Gillion's quick comment before he went into the Block? the "Oh! Like when my parents dropped me off for training! You guys will come back though, right?" :') This probably isn't what was meant, but hey there's always angst with me >:)

I'm assuming he was younger ;-; so I'd probably estimate him like,, young teens? like 13 maybe? Idk, young enough to get pretty anxious to be left on your own without any warning :/ Idk if there's a canonical age difference between the two or not? So I'm gonna say Edyn's older by like three or four years?

And rn my mind is just Edyn brainrot? So why not make myself sob at 3 in the morning! :D

TW// Panic attack mentions and details of them,  (I don't know if there are any others? if there are any I missed please lemme know! :D)

Gillion had been reasonably quiet this morning, a weight in his chest keeping him close to silent. He had tried to strike up conversation with his parents, but after all of his efforts being met with silence, he figured it'd be best to follow their example. To be fair, it was earlier than he would've liked to be woken up, and wearing heavy-set armour while he couldn't think of anything else but sleeping again wasn't helpful in brightening his mood, neither was it an interesting topic to talk about. The water around him was cold, he was used to the temperature, sure, but he seemed to only notice how cold the water was at this moment, for a few seconds feeling hyper-aware of his surroundings. Nothing was different. Everything was fine... It was just an upsettingly early start, it made sense for him to be like this. That, and his body still ached slightly from yesterday's training, so maybe the hyper-awareness was serving as more of a distraction for that. He hadn't slept all that well, not to mention his insecurities biting at his mind, as if he needed any reminder of how unprepared and unready he felt. He was behind. He wasn't getting a grip on the things he was being taught nearly as quickly as the Elders had wanted. He wasn't meeting expectations, he wasn't-

"Gillion."

Gillion's mind went silent. A small wave of static went throughout his body. He looked up to meet the expectant expressions of his parents, looking to his mother first to show he had acknowledged her voice, then to his father to show he was attentive to both of them. The weight he had been feeling only worsened.

"It is time for your training. Do well, do not disappoint the Elders. Again."

Gillion felt a pang of hurt wash over him at his father's harsh words.

Were they really harsh if they were true?

"Y-yes, father. I... I will do my best..! I'm sorry for yesterday, I will do better."

"And you'll do that because..?" His mother's voice spoke up, trailing off for Gillion to finish.

A heavy sigh came before his words, "...Because it is my destiny, mother."

"Very good. The more practice you have with saying it, the faster you will become who you are training to be, Gillion. Remember that."

"Yes, mother."

Without any further words shared between the three, Gillion watched the backs of his parents swim off to go back home. He noticed they seemed to be in conversation. Which was different from their journey to here while Gillion accompanied them... There was only one conclusion Gillion could bring himself to, but he hated it. So instead, he ignored the thought altogether. It was fine. Maybe what they were talking about was a private matter. Probably...
