I nod my head and smile at him. "Yeah... I know, big brother. That is the reason why I chose it. To remind myself of the pain. But don't worry... I'm going to be fine. These will have to do until my bending comes back" I said.

If they ever comes back

-Master Piandao-

Y/N P.O.V

The others decided to stay back. So it's just Sokka and I. We make our way to the door. Sokka starts to knock on the door. But there's no answer. I can see Sokka getting really annoyed. He grabs both of the handle and start knocking with both of them.

"Cut that out!" I said, pulling his hands away. The door opens to reveal a man. "Can I help you?" He said, sounding a little annoyed. I turn to look at Sokka, he still look frightened. I nudge his ribs. He flinched and composed himself.

"We've come to train with the master" he said, in a proper manner. "You should know The Master turns almost everyone away. What did you bring him to prove your worth?" He said. "Well... uhh..." Sokka said, as he starts feeling his clothes.

"Right... let's get this over with" the man said. He turns around and allows the two of us to enter. He leads us through the castle. I glance at Sokka to see him looking very nervous. I take a deep breath, as an attempt to calm myself.

The man eventually leads us to a room. There's a man sitting in front of his with his back facing us. He's carefully holding his sleeve with his other hand, while the other one is holding a brush.

Sokka kneels down and I do the same. "Master, my name is Sokka. This is Y/N. We wish to be instructed in the way of the sword" Sokka said. "Sokka. That's an unusual name and Y/N... sounded like the name of the female Avatar" Master Piandao said. Sokka starts to grow nervous.

"Let me guess. You've come hundreds of miles from your little village where you're the best swordsman in town. And you think you deserve to learn from the master" he said.

"Well, actually, I've been all over the world" Sokka said. I let out a sigh at what he said. "Master.. if you allow me to speak. I'd like to say something..." I said. "Of course..." he said.

"I used to have a way to fight... but I lost it. I'd like to find a new way, and I found it in a dual swords. So, I was hoping that you'd be able to teach me. Teach the two of us" I said. "What's the way that you've lost?" He said. I bit my lips, trying to fight the tears that are gathering in my eyes.

"My identity... my spirit. So, I hope that you'd help me find it again" I said. I was only half lying. I can't tell him the truth, that I'm the Avatar... and that I lost my bending.

"And we know one thing for sure: we have a lot to learn" Sokka said. I nod my head in agreement. The master glance at us. "You're not doing a very good job of selling yourself. But I accept your friend's reasoning" he said.

"I know. Your butler told me that when I met you, I would have to prove my worth. But the truth is... I don't know if I am worthy" Sokka said. But he have a little relieved expression on his face. He looks a little relieved because Master Piandao agreed at teaching me.

"Hm, I see. Well, then, let's find out together how worthy you are" he said. I start to smile, knowing what he's talking about. But Sokka have a confused expression.

He press his sword firmly on the floor as he stands in front of us. "I will train both of you" he said. I smile  happily, as Sokka starts to smile.

We are now standing in a sword fighting ring. I'm standing next to Sokka, with Master Piandao right in front of us. He have given us an outfit that is similar to the one he's wearing.

"The first thing you must learn is that your weapon is an extension of yourself. You must think of it as another part of your own body" Master Piandao said. Sokka thinks about it. "Like a second head!" He said. I let out a sigh at what he said.

"Sokka, we use swords with our hands. They add an extra length to our hands. It's an extension of the arm" I said. Master Piandao nods his head. "She's right. The sword is a simple tool, but in the hands of a master it becomes the most versatile of weapons, and just as the imagination is limitless, so too are the possibilities of the sword" he said.

I lift my hand. He turns to look at me. "Question, master..." I said. He nods his head. "Am I allowed to choose a different type of sword?" I said. "You are free to choose any type" he said. "I'll choose the dual swords" I said. He nods his head. "Very well..." he said, smiling at me. I smile back and bow at him.

Time-skip

We're back indoor. In the same room where we met Master Piandao. I'm sitting next to Sokka with a piece of parchment in front of us. I'm guessing he wants us to write something.

"The warrior practices a variety of arts to keep his mind sharp and fluid. The first you will learn is calligraphy. Write your name" he said. Hmm... I was right.

I lift my hand and hold the sleeve. I dip the brush and start to write my name, making sure to create a beautiful calligraphy from it. I used to paint and write back at Southern Air Temple.

"I'm done, master..." I said, placing my hands on my lap. Master Piandao walks towards me. "Impressive, Y/N..." he said. I smile at him and bow. I turn to look at Sokka. But he still have a blank page.

He still look a little skeptical. "Writing my name will make me a better swordsman‌?" He said. "When you write your name, you stamp the paper with your identity. You must learn to use your sword to stamp your identity on a battlefield. Remember, you cannot take back a stroke of the brush, or a stroke of the sword" he said. Sokka nods his head. I watch as he starts to get very nervous. He places the tip of the brush on his chin.

"You are getting ink on your face" Master Piandao said. "I am?" He said, turning to me. I just nod my head. His eyes lit up as I came up with an idea. "I am! So this is about putting my identity on the page, right?" He said. Master Piandao nods his head. He grins and starts to draw all over his face. He slams his face on the parchment and start moving his head.

I try to stop myself from laughing

I try to stop myself from laughing. But I gotta admit that he's pretty creative about it. I turn to look at Master Piandao to see him closing his eyes. He didn't show much reaction with Sokka's action. I can't read his expression either. I hope we can get through the lessons well.
