LOVE IS A FICKLE THING. It comes in various shapes, forms, sizes, colours, and senses. It could be as simple as a hand to hold, a shoulder to lean on, or as complicated and fussy as a declaration of your truest feelings; your deepest desires and most-hidden secrets. Love is a spectrum, and a sliding one at that. No one can help or actively choose who they end up loving — they can try their hardest to change their feelings, but matters of the heart are no easy persuasion. Love can encompass a range of both positive and negative emotional and mental states; with it's virtue representing human kindness; compassion, affection, and benevolent concern for another — unselfish and loyal — and the vice of human moral flaw; akin to vanity, amour-propre, and egotism — leading people into types of mania, obsessiveness or altered codependency.
Yet, still, somehow, everybody can't help but to want it – people crave love – in one way, in one form or another. As humans, we're almost predisposed to seek out a partner or being to care for, to gain that same love in return, and find the one person that we'll spend the rest of our lives with. We search high and low for it; spend months healing and rebuilding ourselves, trying to shape ourselves into the perfect person that we think is worthy of love and companionship — even when knowing, it just doesn't work out that way. No one can really choose who they end up falling in love with, or when it'd come along – it just happens, and usually, it comes in the way of a complete surprise.
