Wei Wuxian was glaring at Wen Chao with all of her remaining strength, unwilling to reveal her vulnerability but just from the stupid sick smile on Wen Chao's face, she knew that it was of no use. He knew more about her than she knew about him. But how?

The Wens shouldn't have reached the Dafan Mountain before tomorrow morning then how were they not only here but it also looked like they'd been waiting for her? How was Wen Chao aware of her being at the temple of the Dancing Goddess? How and when did he plan to capture all these devotees? Wei Wuxian struggled to break free from the strong grip of those Wen soldiers that were holding her in place, firmly.

In that moment of distraction when she heard Ayuan's anxious voice, Wen soldiers who came outside along with Wen Chao attacked her and hit her unconscious. Wei Wuxian didn't know how long she was passed out but thanks to those few hours of forced sleep, she could at least see clearer with less frequent dizzy spells although they were little to no improvement in her spiritual energy, tiredness and arm pain.

If anything, now her whole body ached sorely because of being tied with ropes and manhandled by those soldiers with frequent kicks and jabs just for the entertainment of their leader, Wen Chao who apparently waited for a long time for Wei Wuxian to regain her consciousness. Why Wait?!!!

When Wei Wuxian awoke, she found herself kneeling on the ground in the living quarter, facing Wen Chao who was sitting on his Wen bobo's favourite sofa like a King, a pathetic worthless spoiled bratty King.

A little away from her were all the devotees whom she saved in the temple along with Wen Yun and mewling and hiccuping Ayuan whose big round honey-brown eyes gazed at her fixedly and flinched noticeably every time whenever these stupid soldiers maltreated her. Wei Wuxian's heart ached for the child who had to witness such a level of cruelty that wasn't normal even for an adult. She couldn't even begin to imagine how all these incidents will impact that child's heart and mind as he'll grow up.

And again something didn't sit right with the situation. Except for Wen Yun and a few adults, none of those thirty-or-so devotees was restrained. They just stood there, indifferently, like those weird devotees whom Wei Wuxian had to glare at and order to leave the temple.

And then it clicked.

They were all puppets!

And if so, then Wen Chao knows exactly what happened in the temple. He knows about Yin iron, knows about her Youling jie and knows about her depleted spiritual energy and its reason...he just knows everything!!!

Wei Wuxian was so distracted in her thoughts and bearing pain, she didn't even notice that pretentious slimy Wen Chao was actually talking to her all this time. But then, a few of his mindlessly spouted nonsense just to boast his superiority attracted her attention and she wanted to know more!

"...Wei Wuxian! Why aren't you asking anything? Hann?!!

I've heard a lot about you. Your cultivation, intelligence, bravery, blah blah blah! But looking at you now, hmph!!! What a disappointment!

I just don't understand what my father sees in you. You're nothing like what he expected! Well, good for me! This time when I'll tell him that I defeated his favoured person, alone. He'll finally believe that I'm better than you, better than everyone! The only eligible heir to pass on his reign!

Well, since you aren't asking anything, I should just tell you myself to ease your curiosities...

These devotees that you see behind you??!! These are my puppets!" Wen Chao smirked, expecting a surprised or shocked reaction out of Wei Wuxian but when she remained unmoved, he frowned irritatedly, "You know what, Wei gongzi? You wasted your efforts in saving those devotees...
