Dan sat at this small desk, hands shaking before him. He quickly swept them under the table and squeezed his eyes shut hoping to get rid of the red stinging feeling.

"So tell me." One of the two males say before him spoke up. He had a deep voice and wore the Dolton Academy uniform. The uniform of the school he could be seen as spying on from an outside eye.

"What is our competition candidate from the New Directions doing sitting here in our school?" The same man asked.

Dan was part of the glee club in McKinley High, the New Directions. They were soon set to perform against two other school glee clubs, one of which was sat before him. Of course it would be seen as spying, but that was not the reason he was here. That wasn't even close.

"I don't think he's spying." The other male spoke, he also had a deepish voice and his hair was swept back lazily crushing wavy curls with some form of overused gel.

Dan looked up as this person smiled sweetly.

"I mean if he were to be doing so, he'd be a pretty lame spy. Look at him, he sticks out like a sore thumb." The overused gel one said jokingly.

Dan nodded with cloudy eyes, smiling weakly. "I-I know." He quietly spoke.

"C-Could you excuse us for a second?" The overused gel one asked the other one who nodded and left swiftly.

"My names Phil." He smiled causing Dan to finally stop staring at the amount of product in his hair and pan down to his friendly eyes.

"I'm Dan. Dan Howell." Dan felt his voice betray him as it quivered towards the end. He cleared his throat nervously.

"So what are you doing at our school, if not spying?" Phil asked quietly, leaning across the table more intently.

"Your school has a zero tolerance bullying policy right?" Dan asked, voice still shaky.

"Here at Dalton Academy, there's no bullying whatsoever. Is kind of awesome. Is that what's wrong, Dan?"

Dan nodded weakly, feeling a strange sensation every time Phil spoke his name. "I get picked on, teased, humiliated...I'm the only out person at my school..."

"Well I wouldn't per say persuade you to leave your school at once and join Dalton since it is your decision to make but..." Phil stopped talking when he saw silent tears roll down the brown-haired boy sat before him. He felt his heart sink at the faint murmur along the lines of "as if that could ever happen" causing his chest to ache even more.

"Dan." His voice spoke, slightly strained causing Dan to glance upwards to meet his eyes. "Prejudice is just ignorant Dan. Don't let them get the best of you. Have the courage to fight back."

Dan nodded, eyes locked with the pale blue eyes before his. It felt like a weird sensation, no awkwardness but he felt strangely comforted in this moment in time. He felt safe. Eventually reality caught up with Dan first as he broke the intense eye contact causing a sick feeling to his stomach ad he cleared his throat once more.

"Thank you for your help, Phil." Dan stood up abruptly, nodding as he stumbled out.

Phil watched with a look of slight admiration, and something else lingering beneath it. He shook his head and laughed softly to himself, feeling a blush rise to his cheeks as he watched Dan nervously stumble away.

Dan was the only openly out gay kid at Mckinley. It wasn't as if he needed to admit it, but the flashy outfits he would wear gave it away. The knee length fitted sweaters or bright bedazzled hats or even the leather tight spray on type pants that clung to his legs. It was pretty obvious from the start.

Despite not having to go through the process of everyone finding out and the teasing he would receive, the fact that everybody already knew gave them a chance to already tease and whisper as he walked past. Usually he could handle it. Usually he would be able to walk down the hallways with pride and roll his eyes at the imbeciles that would whisper about the outfit he spent 2 hours in advance working on last night. He would walk with style and class to his locker. But the only thing that crumbled his high would be the violent shoving into a locker by one of the gorillas of the school. David Karofski.

"Excuse me! Watch it!" Dan half-screamed, fit of anger boiling in his stomach. His face was heating up from rage.

"What did you just say?" Karofski spoke through fritted teeth.

"I-Im just saying...w-watch where you're going next time..." Dan trailed off as Karofski glared evilly, wandering off.

Dan felt himself slide down his lockers, eyes closing as they clouded up with the warmth and wetness of familiarity.

Dan trailed slowly down the familiar stairs of Dolton Academy once more. This time wearing the same outfit, uncaring as he watched everyone race around in a hurry. He had almost reached the last of the spiralling staircase before quickly stopping.

"Excuse me!" He spoke in an unsure voice of one of the students rushing downstairs. Dan felt calmness strike him at the familiar eyes of Phil.

"Back again to spy are you?" Phil teased jokingly.

Dan felt his world momentarily slow, everyone else blocking out as a blur as Phil who was on the ground two stairs below him smiled happily.

Dan smile softened, shaking his head. "Can we talk?" He asked.

Phil nodded with a lopsided grin, grasping Dan's hand securely in his own before Dan realised, he was being lead or moreover pulled somewhere with Phil who happily dragged him along someplace.

They arrived at a small deserted room that somewhat resembled to a common room. Phil led them to a small table as they settled from once across each other.

Dan rested his arms on the table only now releasing Dan's hands who had a blush risen up darkly all the way from his ears.

"Where were everyone going?" Dan asked, flashing a shy smile as Phil released their grip.

"Warbler practice. Gotta practice for Sectionals right? Especially if want to beat a group with your voice in it.  Phil explained. "I wasn't feeling too well so I was on my way out anyway."

"Oh! I'm so sorry for distracting you, y-you didn't have to-"

"It's fine." Phil smiled, resting his hands across Dan's for a split second, and a large part of Dan wanted that hand to remain.

"S-So um...I wanted to talk to you specifically anyway. Thanks, for what you said, I have this one bully who won't get off my back and I said something and although I felt like I got daggers thrown back through eye contact, it felt good. I felt brave, because of your words."

Phil smiled widely that his eyes crinkled around the end and he had the same dazed look in his eye. "T-That's amazing to hear Dan."

Dan smiled just as wide, goofily staring back and sighing deeply. "It felt amazing."

Phil opened his mouth to stay something, but instead he got up, shuffling his chair besides Dan's chair and timidly cupping The boy's cheeks.

Dan felt a soft gasp reach his lips as if magnets, he was pulled forward as their lips connected. Dan let out a deep breath as he felt the other's lips on his, loving the sensation that coursed through his chest. They pulled away from the kiss for air and for the first time in a while, Dan felt completely content in pulling Phil back confidently by his overused gel-filled hair.
