It was a few months later, June 11th to be exact when Daniel awoke with flowers being viciously thrown on him.
He stared, eyes wide at the culprit.
Phillip.
"What is this?" Daniel signed, looking around with a small smile.
"Happy Birthday!" Phillip signed happily, hugging Daniel.
"Thank you my prince, but what have I done to deserve all this?" Daniel signed.
"You have stolen my heart." Phillip blushed. "Now I have a present for you, but you see...it is an intangible gift I suppose."
"What is it?" Daniel signed.
"The gift to hear. Now get ready and come downstairs."
Daniel's eyes widened as tears slowly slid down his face. He nodded enthusiastically as he ran off to the bathroom like a small puppy.
When Daniel returned, he made his way downstairs and saw Phillip ready and waiting. He took Daniel's hand and led him into the car where they were driven off to somewhere for two hours.
When they arrived, Phillip lead Daniel to a big place of what seemed like a hospital.
After waiting for another hour, Daniel was led to this dimmed room. "Are you okay?"
"I don't know...what is this?" Daniel signed.
"An operation where you will hopefully get to hear."
"But these are so expensive!"
"Consider it your birthday gift. I love you."
Daniel sighed with a small smile on his face. "I love you so much."

Almost three hours later as the procedure was done. Now all was to be done was wait.
Daniel went home with thick bandages around his ears and they were to remain that way for a few days.
"My ears hurt." Daniel signed a few days after the operation as he softly touched the bandages and tears rolled down his cheeks.
Phil frowned. "I'm sorry."
"But soon I will hear right? So this pain is worth the gift to hear." Daniel signed optimistically making Phillip hug him gently, kissing over the bandages softly.

It was the day of the unravelling of Daniel's bandaged. They were in his room and Phillip was doing it, trying his best not to hurt Daniel.
Once all the bandages were off, Phillip applied the soothing cream to Daniel's reddened ears.
"Speak." Daniel signed, hands shaking.
"D-Daniel?" Phillip said out loud, holding Daniel's hands in his own.
Daniel felt tears stream down his face. He could actually hear Phillip for once.
"P-Phillip." Daniel said quietly making Phillip also burst into tears. "I-I he-hear!"
"You can! And your voice is so beautiful!" Phillip exclaimed with joy.
"B-Beautiful?" Daniel questioned and Phillip nodded enthusiastically.
"Beautiful." He smiled, pressing their lips together.
