There was a queue by the entrance so I had to line up and wait until it was my turn.

"Hello, name?" says the worker with the tagged name Simon.

"Ethan Walls."

"No, name of competitor" he says and rolls his eyes.

"You could've just said that" I gave the same attitude back. "Ruby Hansel."

The guy searches through his clipboard.

"And um by the way.. do I have to pay for my ticket?" I don't think the ticket is under ten dollars. I mean, it is a big competition.

"Depends if you're competitors vip" he says.

"What?"

"Yeah you are. You may enter" he says and unclips the red banner.

She.. made me her vip?  I entered the hall and tried to find a seat at the front rows so that Ruby could see me clearly. If she looks at the audience.

Most of it were full but I managed to sit in the third row a few seats to the left from the middle, which was a good view so I wasn't complaining.

Since it was right after four the event started shortly after with the emcee giving introduction and yada yada. I was distributed the sheet of the performance's time, and Ruby and Lucas were the few last ones since their division are the highest.

Everyone performed amazingly, even though some tripped on their foot a bit and I could see the disappointed look on the judges and especially the performer a little bit. But those were the first few ones which I assumed were still new in dancing and competing so that's totally okay.

The performers nearing Ruby and Lucas' were absolutely amazing, they nailed every twirl, tumble jumps, move.. definitely wowed the crowd.

But the one that I was eagerly waiting for was Ruby's, and I'm sure most of the crowd had somewhat the same mindset.

When the music started and Ruby came in for her solo, the crowd cheered before it toned down a bit to properly focus on her dance routine. I, myself have seen this performance done numerous times yet it has never failed to amaze me.

She was wearing a brown dirty dress and her makeup was done in a way where she looked like she had dirt in her face and her hair was tied up to a messy bun.

I knew performances told a story so I made sure to attentively look and process her routine.

Her solo first looked like she was a mess, and she was sad and out of her mind. Or control. When she crouched down with her head in her arms at a corner of the stage Lucas came in. In contrast of Ruby, he wore a white silky collared shirt that only the few buttons in the middle were buttoned and the shirt was sort of see through.

It made him look angelic and it added a sense of sentimental to his solo. After about 30 seconds into the performance Ruby got up and they performed their duet.

As many times before, this ignited the fire of jealousy within me but I tried to ignore it and focus on their performance instead of the amount of skinship they shared.

At the starting of their duet routine, Ruby seemed doubtful of Lucas. She kept backing away from him whenever he went towards her and there was a part where she pulled away harshly when he held her arm making him flinch and fall back.

This is getting interesting.

Slowly, throughout the performance Ruby.. or best described the character she was in starting becoming more comfortable and accepting of him. Both of them did.

The part that made this whole performance to another level of WOW was when Lucas went behind her and unbuttoned her dress, revealing a beautiful white silky and lacy dress along with letting her hair down.

I widened my eyes. The combination of her wavy and curly hair with her white silky dress literally made her look like she came straight from the angels womb. Fucking breathtaking.

God fuck, why did I ever had to snap at you that day..

They continued the performance, and based on what I remembered there were left with 30 to 20 seconds left.

They twirled, spun, jumped, tumbled, all the contemporary stuff and they had finally reached the ending of their performance.

From a feet distance Ruby walked towards Lucas, both of them with that damn expression that makes my insides burn in flames in anger and jealousy. I closed my eyes shut.

It's a dance, Ethan. A fucking act. Don't get too pressed about it.

When I opened my eyes the gap that they had just earlier was no longer existent. She had her arms wrapped around his neck and his hands secured on her waist.

Just a hug I reminded myself.

The music stops as they lean in for a kiss.
