CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT:
CAN WE TALK?

"EMMA! WHERE ART THOU?" Amelia called as she and the rest of the family entered the home. Emma who had moved from her bedroom, was standing in the living room with Renesmee in her arms, the little girl laughing as she continued to watch Emma play with her chaos magic. Emma didn't even acknowledge Amelia's yells for her, her focus sorely on the child in her hands. Rosalie entered the room with Amelia and stopped dead in her tracks, making Amelia do the same. Amelia opened her mouth to say something only to cut herself off when she noticed Emma and the girl.

A smile pulled up at both of the females lips as they watched the blonde interact with the baby. Amelia put a reassuring hand on Rosalie's shoulder before carefully walking out of the room, the smile never leaving her face as she did so.

"I know she's your child and all," Amelia started as she looked at Bella and Edward, "but Emma's actually smiling at her and I think Rosalie just wants a minute to relish in that."

Rosalie stood there as Emma continued to play with the child, making her laugh. Rosalie couldn't help but smile at the sight before her, the smile never leaving her face when Emma finally looked up and noticed her wife. Emma's smile grew smaller, but it never left her face. Guilt started to soar through her as she looked at Rosalie.

"Hey." Emma was the first to speak, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Hey." Rosalie responded. She nodded towards Renesmee. "I take it as she's not as bad as you thought?" Rosalie started to take careful steps towards her wife as Emma looked down at the little girl.

"I guess not." Emma responded, her bottom lip being pulled between her teeth.

Rosalie cocked her head slightly to the side. "What is it?"

Emma looked up and shook her head, offering Rosalie a small smile. "Nothing. I should probably give Edward and Bella their child back." Emma moved around Rosalie and started to make her way out of the room.

"Can we talk?" Rosalie asked. Emma stopped and bit her lip before glancing at Rosalie and then leaving the room.

Emma stood outside with a flower in her hands, twirling it between her fingers as she enjoyed the night time. The moon was particularly bright that night and made Emma's silhouette glow. The small flower in her hand was her sore focus, changing only when Rosalie walked outside and stood a few feet away from Emma. Emma knew that it was Rosalie who had joined her outside, her scent was of strawberries and flowers, something Emma absolutely adored.

"I'm sorry." Emma whispered, her eyes moving so that they were looking ahead of her instead of down at the flower in her hands.

"I know." Rosalie responded, taking a gentle step towards the blonde.

"The things I said. . . they were unfair. Everything I've done for the past few weeks have been unfair to you and I'm sorry." Emma's voice was broken, guilt flowing through her words. "I was being selfish, and stubborn, and. . . and you just, you don't deserve that. You deserve so much better than that. My priority should've been you. Not myself. I just want you to be happy."

"We're both to blame, Emma." Rosalie told the girl as she moved to stand in front of her. "You don't like children, I should've respected that. I just, I don't think I can fight with you anymore. It's exhausting. And I can't stand it when you're upset with me."

Emma looked at Rosalie, gold meeting gold for the first time in weeks. Emma looked away as the guilt continued to plague her body. Rosalie had a gentle smile placed on her lips as she gently took the flower from Emma's hands and placed it behind her ear. Emma looked up at her and Rosalie gave her a smile. "I love you, and nothing will ever change that. You are the best thing that has happened to me. Not Renesmee, not this life, you. You make me happy. And even if I were still a human, I'm sure you would've found a way into my heart like you do every time you smile, or laugh, or tell me you love me. Nothing will ever change my feelings for you, Emma. I'd much rather you be my source of happiness than anything else."

Emma's eyes were glossed over as Rosalie spoke her words. She never once faltered in her words, nor did her eyes ever stray from Emma's. Emma opened her mouth, but Rosalie quickly beat her to it. "And before you even say I deserve better, maybe you're right, maybe I do. But the thing is, I don't want better. I want you. Nothing more, nothing less."

Emma looked down to the ground as a smile started to form on her face. Rosalie lifted her head back up and offered her a small smile.

"I'm sorry." Emma apologized once more.

"I know." Rosalie whispered, her hand never leaving its spot under Emma's chin.

"I love you, more than words could ever say."

"Prove it." Rosalie taunted, her smile growing. Emma smirked before leaning in and kissing her. It was a delicate kiss, one that was full of love and longing. Emma pulled away for a quick second, her eyes moving from Rosalie's lips to look the blonde goddess in the eye before moving back to her lips and then kissing her once more. This one full with much more emotions that both understood. They stood there in each others embrace, the tension falling off their shoulders as they stood there with one another. They were finally okay, and Emma was never more thankful than she was in that moment.
