"Honey!" My mom ran over.

"Hi," He smiled and waved.

I couldn't believe it. I just stood there in shock crying-Neil was right in front of me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Well, I was in town and your mom invited me," He rubbed the back of his neck.

He looked so different-he didn't dress as nicely and his hair was longer.

"She didn't tell me," I awkwardly chuckled. .

"Sorry," She rubbed my back. "Come in, Neil."

"Actually, I was planning on going to go and get some ice cream with Adette," Neil replied. "I mean, if that's alright with you, Adette."

"Sure," I got my jacket on and we got into his car, and drove to an ice cream place.

After we bought some ice cream, we sat in his car and ate it there.

"So...how have you been?" I asked.

"Good. You?"

"I've been great," I lied. "How's your movie?"

"Well, it's coming out next week and it's said to be pretty big."

"That's great."

"Yeah. I've missed America."

"How come you're here?"

"Because I wanted to come here."

"Ah."

"And you?"

"Dad's concert is tomorrow."

"That's really cool. I would go to one of his concerts, but I feel like that would be-"

"Awkward?"

"A little, yeah," He said and we both laughed.

"I've missed you," I muttered.

"Yeah, I missed you too."

I turned to him and looked at his lips, and leaned in, but then he started to push me away.

"What?" I asked hurt.

"I can't."

"Why not?"

"Because I have a girlfriend."

My heart sank and I gasped. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I haven't talked to you in over a year, Adette."

I thought about his words he just said. It didn't feel like a year, but he didn't know what he was and was too flabbergasted to realize the time that passed by. Or maybe he was so absorbed with his other girlfriend that he forgot about me. "Who is she?"

"No one you know. I met her at a bar."

"Oh, she's older?"

"She's a year younger than I am."

"Oh," I looked down. "Did I, like, not mean anything to you?"

"What are you talking about?"

"I still go to sleep every single night crying over you and you're over here with someone else!"

"I still cried, too!"

"How long have you guys been together for?"

"About a month now."

"How do you feel about her?"

"I can't tell you."

"Why?"

"Because you'd get too upset!"

"Tell me, please," I begged.

"I fell in love with her the second I saw her."

"Oh."

"Yeah. I just wouldn't do anything to ever let her go."

"You wouldn't go make a movie?"

"No. I'm sorry, Adette-"

I held back my tears. "It's fine, Neil. I think that it's about time I move on, too, huh?"

"Adette-"

"Just drive me back home, please."

He drove me back, and as I shut the door, I said, "It was nice seeing you again."

I went inside and as soon as I saw my mom, I ran to her and hugged her while crying. "He has a girlfriend."

"I'm sorry, sweetie," She rubbed my back.

I thought that this night was the hardest, but I had no idea what was about to unfold over the next couple of days.
