You were Aaron Hotchner’s ex.

He was a fresh high school graduate.

You were a high school freshman.

You were both planning on running away together.

The plan was for you two to meet at the swing set where you two met in the park.

You waited a whole 5 hours, when it had begun to rain.

You watched his car pass by and spotted him driving and staring at you.

You smiled, expecting him to come for you.

But he just drove away.

Leaving you and your shattered heart behind.

That was many years ago.

You were now in the FBI and had been assigned to work a case with the BAU.

When you arrived, you were led to a meeting room by a preppy blonde.

“Agent Y/L/N is here,” she said.

A short, italian man stood and gave you his seat.

“Thank you,” you smiled, taking it.

“Why are you here?” a tall, pale guy with longish hair asked.

“I was asked to come in to work with you on a case. It wasn’t specified why or what case,” you shrugged, “I’m Agent Y/N Y/L/N.”

You watched another man stand.

“SSA Aaron Hotchner,” he said.

You recognized his name immediately, but pretended not to.

“Pleasure to meet you,” you said.

He introduced the rest of the team, but kept his eyes on you.

The case was easy to solve and only took two days.

You had finished your paperwork at the BAU.

You went to Hotch’s office to drop it off before leaving and returning to your own home and workplace.

Hotch took the paperwork from you.

“Y/N, wait,” he said, stopping you from leaving.

“What’s up, Hotch?” you asked.

“I know you recognize me, just like i recognized you,” he said.

You sighed and gave him a small smile.

“You always did know when i was lying,” you said.

“Thank you for keeping it professional,” he said.

“My job always come first to me,” you shrugged.

“My son comes first in mine,” he said.

You looked at the picture of his son on his desk.

“He’s adorable,” you said.

“Thank you. His name’s Jack,” he told you.

You nodded silently.

“About why i left you-,” he began.

“Hotch, it was years ago,” you chuckled, “We were both young and stupid. It’s okay.”

He took your hand.

“Please let me finish,” he said, “I left so you could live your dreams. I thought i would get in the way.”

“You were my dream,” you whispered.

“You’re still my dream,” he whispered back.

“Hotch, i don’t-,” you sighed.

Hotch pressed his lips to yours.

He pulled away, looking at you hopefully.

“Damn you, Aaron Hotchner, for being irresistible,” you said.

“So is that a yes?” he asked.

“Yes,” you laughed.

“Still up for running away together?” he questioned.

“Yeah, let’s skip that part this time.”
