You were on the stage in your school. You were alone, practicing your lines for your part in the school play. You didn’t want to mess up or be terrible.

You heard the door open and watched the school janitor walk in. You knew his name because you has talked a few times. You thought he was pretty cool and had a great sense of humor. Even on your worst days, he was able to make you laugh.

He was young, so it surprised you that he’d be a janitor. But he said he was still trying to pay off debt. You liked that he was loyal. He was one of your friends, so when students were rude to him, you’d always stand up for him.

“Hey, Gabriel,” you smiled at him.

“Hey, Y/N. What are you doing on the stage so late?” he asked.

“Practicing my lines,” you responded, “Should i leave?”

“You don't’ have to. I just didn’t expect you to be here,” he said.

“Um, if i’m in your way, let me know,” you said.

“You’re not on my way,” he said, “You'd never be.”

You blushed slightly and read your script.

“What play is it?” Gabriel asked.

“Romeo and Juliet,” you replied.

“A classic,” he said.

You nodded.

“Need any help?” he asked.

You nodded again.

“I’d like that,” you said.

Gabriel grinned and got on the stage with you. He snapped and you were suddenly in a costume. He was, too. He snapped again and the set was ready.

You were scared.

“What just happend? What are you?” you gasped.

“I’m Gabriel. And i’m kind of an angel. Though i prefer to act like a trickster,” he said.

“Angels aren’t real,” you whispered.

“I’m right here, Y/N,” he said.

“But it’s just not possible,” you said.

“But here i am and here you are,” he said.

You gulped and nodded.

“I promised not to hurt you,” he said.

And you believed him. You gave him a shaky smile and he returned it with a confident one.

You ran through the play with ease. Gabriel as Romeo was the easiest thing to imagine. He could really pull off the part.

You tried to shake off your thoughts about him. But he made it extremely hard with his touches and closeness.

Gabriel leaned in close and he kissed you as you finished a version of the play. You kissed back carefully, running your fingers through his hair.

And then you woke up. You had been dreaming of the first time you fell for Gabriel. You looked next to you to see your angel laying next to you.

He was still asleep. You two were now engaged.

And personally, you were glad your love story was unlike that of Romeo and Juliet.
