It was yours and Tony’s one year anniversary. You were currently sitting at a restaurant and waiting for him.
He was always late for dates. You guys would make plans and he would make it after half to an hour later.
You understood he was busy, being Iron Man and all, but you still wanted him to spend time with you.
At night, he would get out of bed to go to the lab.
You went down one night to ask why and he just gave you an empty star until you left.
You figured he just needed space, so you gave him time alone.
But lately, things had gotten worse.
He would skip dates completely.
Whenever you sat next to him, he would ignore you or get up and walk away.
You were hurting, but you didn’t want to leave him.
You loved him and you were still hoping he loved you.
You checked the time. It had been two hours that you had been sitting and waiting.
You called Tony.
Natasha answered.
“Hello?” she asked.
You knew Natasha would never lie to you or hurt you.
“Um, where’s Tony?” you asked her.
“Y/N, he is here at SHIELD. We’re having a party to celebrate the success of one of his new weapons,” she told you.
You stifled a sob.
“Oh,” you said.
“He forgot something again, didn’t he?” she asked.
“It’s nothing important,” you lied, “Can you tell him something for me?”
“Of course,” she said.
“Tell him I said goodbye,” you asked, hanging up.
Your heart was broken.
You walked to Stark Towers and turned over all the picture of you and Tony.
You packed your things quickly and jotted down a note.
I’m sorry, but I can’t do this anymore.
