Hawks continued to fly through the streets. She couldn't be far away, he hoped. He held on to the thought that he would find her before she did something rash. Kaede hadn't finished the call, he could still hear the swish of her mobile as she moved. He had already given the order to locate her mobile. Maybe he could reach her before then. The wind was no longer audible, obviously she had left the rooftops. "Shit!" He didn't know what to do. The city was huge, the possibilities endless, and Kaede was capable of doing anything. In this state, nothing held her back. "Hey you guys!" He heard her voice faintly through the earpiece. "Come over here! What would you do if you met a murderer? I am a murderer! I've killed people. Maybe I'll kill you too, you'd better act." Hawks froze. "No." Perhaps her opposite answered, for he heard nothing. "Will you not defend yourselves to me?" "Kaede, do nothing!" He yelled as loud as he could, hoping she would understand him. "Come on! I am a murderer! I am a danger! Won't you save the people from me?!" Shots rang out. Several shots, and a groan from Kaede after each shot. Rustling sounded, then Kaede's voice, very close: "Mind your own business." Then she hung up.

...

The bullets had hit her in different places. She had actually shouted at the policemen because she wanted to die, found guilty by the power of the law, but it was not enough. The moment the first bullet hit, she knew she shouldn't make it so easy for herself, couldn't. It was not her decision when to die. Her life was worth nothing, so she had to wait. Wait until she had lived with the guilt, until she had paid something back to the world for being... for being the way she was.

...

The sun had already risen. The weekend had begun without her. Her clothes had been covered in blood, so she had stolen a coat from a shop to cover herself. She strolled through the streets, careful not to be spotted by heroes. Perhaps they were already looking for her. She entered a kisosk to buy food. She had been debating about it for a while, but she decided to buy food to stay in shape. In the kiosk, she looked for various cans and large bottles of water. She was standing in front of the big shelf when someone entered the shop. She wouldn't have bothered if the salesman behind the counter hadn't jumped up excitedly and run to "All might!". She froze, because when she looked over her shoulder she noticed that he had already spotted her. "Hello! Could you give me a moment with the young lady there?" The salesman glanced at Kaede. "Of course, wait, I'll get you something else from the warehouse, a gift for your efforts as a hero!" Yagi walked slowly towards her. "Aren't you afraid?" He wondered, "What would I be afraid of?" She shook her head in disbelief. "You can't defend yourself. I could kill you right now." "Why would you kill me?" "Because I'm a villain." "I know you, you're not a villain." "You only know one version of me, ever since I came into this world I was destined to be a villain." "Being a villain is not predestined, villains are made one by society." For the first time she thought about it more carefully. "It doesn't matter how you became a villain, it only matters that you are one." "Your actions don't make you a villain, your thinking does. It matters if you hurt people because you feel your goal is more important or if you hurt them because of an accident." She listened to his sermon quietly. "Think about it: What was your starting point? When did you start thinking of yourself as a villain? Answer honestly, we are equals." "When the Hero Commission told me that my Quirk was dangerous." "You see young Miharu. Some people have told you something, but it is only your own opinion that counts. You must-" The salesman came back in. "Here All might, this is all for you, free of charge!" All might argued with the salesman. When he had finished, he turned back to Kaede, but she had disappeared.

After Kaede had run into All might, the others at least had a clue. They limited the search to this radius for the time being and listened for witnesses who could give a direction. Kaede knew very well that they would look for her first in back alleys and deserted places, so she stuck to the crowds in footpaths. Just as her light turned green, she saw Joke and Aizawa standing on a street corner. Actually, she was far away from the kiosk and yet they were on her heels. Turning around now would be too conspicuous, so she crossed the street. Just as she turned the other way, she heard Aizawa say, "Midoriya! Don't forget that I only gave you permission because otherwise you would have searched for her illegally." "Yes, Mr. Aizawa, thank you." So some of her classmates were here too. The more who were hanging around, the more dangerous it was for her to be caught. She decided to get on the next train with the crowd to go as far as possible. She noticed the red hair immediately, even though it was a few metres away, but Eijiro turned to her and was startled to see her so close. Very slowly he raised his hands. His finger grazed his ear as he said, "I found you, here at the subway station." He held out his hand to her. "Come, let's join the others, everyone is waiting for you to return." "Oh, they're waiting? I thought you had just told them my location and they would all be rushing here to... To what? Capture me? They'll have to capture me, because I'm not going anywhere voluntarily." Eijiro looked at her in despair. She knew that if she felt anything, she would immediately fall around his neck. Instead, she turned, down the stairs into the station. To her surprise, she felt a firm grip around her wrist. "Let's wait and find out." She twisted her own arm and tried to slip out of his grip. When that didn't work, she sighed. "You asked for it." Quick as a flash, she steadied Eijiro at the elbow and armpit, then threw him over her shoulder. The impact did not hurt him because he had hardened, but the bounce released her arm. She disappeared. At the station, she saw on the board that the next train would be in two minutes. It took too long. She went to one of the toilets and locked herself in. Her reflection stared back at her. Dark circles framed her blue eyes. The golden sparks in her eyes had faded almost completely. Her hair hung wild and unkempt in her pale face, no wonder so many people could tell where she had gone. She stepped out of the toilet when she felt the vibration of the train. Before she stepped towards the doors, she looked around on all sides. No one was there. She took a step towards the door but was jerked around by a heavy weight from the side. She was on the floor, pinned by Tenya, who was pressing her left arm to the floor, and Izuku, who was kneeling by her right arm. "Get the hell off me!" "We can only do this if you will come with us too. Accompany us to the UA." Tenya applied more pressure as he spoke. "Please Kaede, let's talk. There's nothing wrong at the UA, why don't you want to go back?" She didn't know why, but at the same time she had a quiet suspicion. Even if she suppressed her feelings, there were too many stimuli in the UA that made her feel again. Subconsciously, she was aware of this urge and her Quirk was already initiating the countermeasure. The most natural countermeasure there is: Fear. Fear makes you do things that you later regret because you don't think when you are afraid. Combined with panic, it triggered a state in which logical thinking would be completely switched off. Izuku noticed the change in atmosphere. "We need Aizawa!" Kaede breathed faster than usual, lighter. "Kaede, don't panic now, will you? We're here with you." "Tenya, talking her into it won't do any good if the panic is caused by her Quirk. It's probably that-" Izuku's muttering was cut off as his breath caught in his throat all at once. Kaede took advantage of the fright and freed herself from their grip. She sprinted to the door of the train, but it was already closed. Izuku was right behind her and was about to reach for her when she made a dash for the train's grab handle. The train swept her away, leaving Izuku and Tenya behind in the station.
