So when dad had suggested that the three of us go to Mexico together, I had assumed that he was joking. I mean- Dad was never one for big plans, and the both of us had just gotten back on good terms with Robby, so I was hoping he wouldn’t push us. But he was in fact serious, we were going on a road trip to Mexico. I figured he’d be all dead set on finding Miguel after he left at the All Valley, but he was actually taking the time for Robby, which I could not be more grateful for. Progress people!

“Got us some choice supplies for the next leg of our road trip” dad announced as he walked out of the corner store with ridiculous red sunglasses on that still had the tag on them “Mexican cokes” dad pulled three coke bottles out of the bag

“I think here they’re just cokes” Robby chuckled

“Mexican candy, chicharrons”

“Chicharons” I reiterated with the correct accent

“And just picked up this badass cellphone, it’s got sixty minutos on it, that’s like, three hundred american minutes” oh for the love of god dad “And, I got you a little something to say welcome to Mexico, for Harley” it was a bobblehead dog with a sombrero “And don’t tell me it’s offensive we bought it in mexico, it’s their idea, and here, gift number two, Robby” Dad held up a shirt that said FBI on the front “Turn it around” on the back it read ‘female body inspector’ on it “Isn’t it great?” Robby was- actually smiling “I got one for me too”

“So what’re we actually doing here?” Robby sighed

“Yeah I’ve been wondering the same thing” I nodded

“And don’t say it’s a father son daughter bonding thing, we could’ve done that five hundred miles ago”

“Alright look” Dad nodded, finally taking off those stupid glasses “This is a father son daughter bonding thing, there’s just something we have to take care of first, c’mon get back in the car okay?” dad patted us both on the shoulder before getting in the driver’s seat

“I hate it when he says that” I mumbled

“Why?” Robby asked

“Cause that’s what he said that was the day we went to mom’s apartment, the day you were smoking weed and watching porn with your badass buddies” I smirked, Robby groaned

“We weren’t watching porn- I mean- well they were- I wasn’t- only when-....... Shut up Harley”

“Shot gun!” I laughed, throwing myself around the car

“You had it on the way here!” Robby chased after me, yanking me back and spinning me around

I laughed my ass off as Robby and I wrestled our way into the front seat. Eventually I gave in and let Robby sit in the front, it was a better way for him and dad to continue bonding, plus it gave me time to message Eli without Robby checking over my shoulder. Eli pretty much moved out after Robby moved in, not that I completely minded. I sure missed having him around every night, but Eli understood, even if he still hates Robby for everything he did, and I can’t change that, I can only let time do its thing.

“So what are we doing here dad? What’s this pitstop?” I asked, mouth full of sour mexican gummies

“It’s uh…… We’re looking for a guy, Hector the Salazar……. Someone Carmen, may have told me about” Dad trailed off, but not enough

“Wait what?” I instantly sat up, putting my phone down “Carmen told you about this guy?” I started putting the pieces together, oh my gosh I’m an idiot “Miguel’s dad” I sighed

“Now Harley- hang on- Carmen is very worried, and so am I, I know you are too-”

“What the hell dad?!” Robby shouted
