Iris came around a little while after John B started worrying about Sarah going into the house to get the truck keys.
"I'm sure she's fine."
"It's been more than ten minutes, Iris! Somethings going on."
"Well, what do you want to do about it?"
"I hate to ask this but-"
"No. Absolutely not." JJ cut him off.
"JJ-"
"John B. She's not going into that house."
"It might be our only option, JJ." Pope added.
"Oh so now you're team Iris again?"
"I didn't mean what I said-"
"She's not going in there." JJ insisted.
"Well, then who is?" John B replied.
"I can do it." Iris whispered as JJ shook his head, opening his mouth, "It's fine."
"Okay, you are not fine! You cannot go in there-"
"Yes, I can. Everything is fine and civil between Rafe and I, haven't you noticed? If I run into him, or anyone, I can talk my way out of it."
"Can you?" John B asked.
"Yeah." She said, nodding, trying to convince herself that she could.
Selfishly, she wanted to run into Rafe.
But at the same time, that was her worst nightmare.
"The last time you ran into Rafe in the house, you ended up running away to the middle of the water-"
She grimaced, cutting JJ off, I'm okay. I swear."
Was she?
"You just cried for twenty minutes. You're still healing from everything that you've gone through. You need to take it easy." JJ said, placing a hand on her back.
He had a point. You probably shouldn't do this Iris.
"JJ, just let me do this." She replied, looking up at him.
But, it was her decision.
"Iris-"
"No. I'm going." Iris replied sternly, "I'll go through the passageway."
"Okay now you're asking to run into Rafe!"
"If I go through the front or back, the security camera will pick that up. Either way, I'm likely fucked but it's okay. I'll go find her."
"Iris." JJ groaned as she looked back at him, "Be safe."
She chuckled, "I'll be so safe."
And the rest of them joined in, laughing alongside her. Taking a breath, she began to walk towards the house, headed in the direction of Rafe's room.
