WANDA's POV

It's actually very lucky that we're living in a spacious bungalow, because it makes it easier for Y/N.

She's been in a wheelchair for all of her life. Her legs have never worked, ever since birth. And no one's entirely sure why. Spina bifida has been ruled out, and a couple other things. So no doctors have figured it out yet, but we hope to someday find a cause to her paralysis.

Either way, we're working through it. A lot of days are a struggle, especially when we're out in public.

People stare sometimes, it upsets Y/N, and me. Maybe someone being in a wheelchair isn't the most normal thing to a child, and they don't know that staring is rude, but it makes my daughter uncomfortable.

All she wants to be able to do is go out with her friends, which she does, but she wants to walk. She wants to know what it feels like to run, jump, fall over, just anything that involves being on her own two feet.

"Morning, kiddo," I greet my daughter in a cheery voice after practically breaking into her room. I think I woke her up. "How did you sleep, sunshine?" I ask as I stroke back some of her hair.

"It was lovely until you woke me up," she replies grumpily, scowling at me.

"No scowling at mama. You gotta get up, I think we should go and get some fresh air this morning. It's a lovely day."

Once again, she groans. "That's such an old person thing to say."

In response, I place my hand onto my chest and act offended. "Hit me right in the heart. I am not old!"

Once we've joked for a little longer, I help her shuffle into her chair and leave her to get ready for the day.

She can do most things independently, and we have things installed in our home to make her life a bit easier. They may seem small but they make a big difference to Y/N. Light switches being lower on the wall, her furniture being closer to the floor. It all helps.

"Mama!" I hear her call me from her bedroom about an hour after I left her. I go in immediately in case she needs my help with something.

"What's up?" I query, getting to work on making her bed for her.

"Please can you push me on our 'walk' today? I don't feel like doing it myself," she asks me, using air quotes around 'walk'.

"Of course. What do you say we bring some bread, too? We can feed the ducks at the lake."

I watch as her eyes light up from the suggestion. Y/N loves ducks. I think I passed that down to her somehow.

Only a little while later, we're both ready to go and so I get us out the door and start pushing Y/N along to the lake.

"Look, there's a butterfly!" I exclaim, pointing at a random butterfly flying by. "There's loads. I need to take some photos."

So as my daughter laughs away happily at all the butterflies around, I get out my phone and start taking pictures of them all before moving Y/N and I over to the lake, where several ducks are waiting for us.

Once we got home, Y/N went off to her bedroom to do whatever teenagers do these days, and now I'm sitting on the couch with Brooklyn Nine-Nine playing on the TV, but my phone suddenly pings.

I smile as I see that she's uploaded a photo from today onto her Instagram.
