"What are you getting?" I asked as I looked at the overpriced menu.

"Filet mignon." Colby said with a slow nod. "I don't know what to get." I said with a frown. "Want me to pick?" He asked as I nodded.

"Yeah, you know what I like." I said then took a sip of my wine. I couldn't help but feel a little worried about the kids but was trying to keep my mind off of it.

Colby had a point that I was raising them at Carter and Jenna's age. I had to remind myself that they weren't little kids anymore.

"What's on your mind?" Colby asked as he took my hand. "Just thinking about the kids and how I shouldn't worry because they aren't little anymore...well except for Juniper." I said with a sigh.

"Yeah, this is a good first step for you. Plus, I got permission from the head of the household." He said as I scrunched my brow.

We sat in silence for only a second before the realization hit. "Juniper." We said at the same time. "And how did you convince her?" I asked as he chuckled.

"She wants dessert..well they all do but she was the mastermind behind it." He said causing me to smile.

I genuinely loved the relationship that Colby had with the kids. I knew they loved him when they first met him but I didn't expect them to have this strong of a bond with him.

"Have we made any decisions?" The waiter asked as he came over to the table. "Yes, this beautiful girl is going to get the miso glazed salmon and I will get the filet mignon cooked medium rare." Colby said, keeping his eyes on me.

"Perfect. I will have that out as soon as possible." The waiter said then took our menus and walked away.

"Do I give off salmon vibes?" I asked as he chuckled. "Yeah, I also wanted to try it." He said as I nodded. "Veryyyy sneaky." I said as he nodded.

"How was work?" He asked as I looked around the fancy restaurant. "It was fine. Everyone claims they missed me and they want me to go get drinks with them at some point." I explained as he smiled.

"Are you gonna go?" He asked and ran his thumb along my hand. "I don't know if I feel comfortable getting drunk in public." I said quietly.

"A drink or two won't get you drunk. Plus, you don't have to drink. I think making friends will be good for you." He said with an encouraging smile.

"Would you come with?" I asked as he shrugged. "If you're okay with leaving the kids by themselves." He said as I sighed. "We'll see how tonight goes." I said with a nod.

"You know my coworkers refer to you as my hot ass boyfriend." I said as he grinned. "They aren't wrong." He said cockily. "You're not that hot." I said and looked away. "Yeah, okay." He said sarcastically.

The truth was that he was the most attractive person I have ever seen in my life but I wasn't going to stroke his ego.

When our food came I couldn't get over how fancy it all looked. With my salmon came caviar and gold flakes giving it a rich and elegant vibe.

"This is so fancy." I mumbled as he nodded. "Yeah, a lot more fancy than even I was expecting." He said with a laugh.

"We can afford this, right?" I asked as he nodded. "Don't you worry about a thing, sweetheart." He said as I nodded and took a bite.

"That's soooo good." I said with wide eyes. "Yeah?" Colby asked as I nodded and grabbed another bite, offering it to him.

"Oh, shit. That is good." He said with a nod. "Want some of mine?" He asked as I nodded. "Yes, please." I said with a fast nod.
