When the news of the riot and coup in Toby's mansion spread through the Dawn base, Resh couldn't shake the gnawing excitement inside him.

He knew it, and this is why she went there. Everyone had misjudged her, and she wasn't the kind of person his sister had painted her to be, someone who needed to climb anyone's bed.

Going headfirst into danger to overthrow a tyrant and rescue women sounds more like her.

Now that she had taken over that base, she would return to him soon, right?

After a few days, Miss Weyland, the daughter of one of the Dawn base's leaders, also returned to the Dawn base. Resh observed her from a distance, noticing the weary look in her eyes and the tension in her posture. However, Florentina is nowhere to be seen.

With each passing day, Resh's hope for her return dwindled, but a small flicker remained alive in his heart. He couldn't help but wonder where she was, what she was doing, and if she was safe.

Edgar and his team had returned to Serenity Cove, so he could not discuss this with them or ask if they heard anything from her.

As days turned into weeks, Resh had no choice but to throw himself into his research with renewed vigour, hoping that by immersing himself in his work, he could silence the nagging doubts and fears that plagued his mind. But deep down, he knew that until he found Florentina and talked to her, the itchy feelings in his heart would remain.

After countless hours of hard work and dedication, Resh's team had finally perfected the machine that could grant ordinary individuals extraordinary abilities based on his research before the apocalypse.

Additionally, they had developed a vaccine that could suppress the zombie virus, a breakthrough that promised hope for the future of humanity. Both of these inventions happened much faster than in the original plot.

With the completion of their groundbreaking research, Resh felt a weight lift off his shoulders.

As Resh approached Alicia's father to discuss cancelling their engagement, he braced himself for the difficult conversation. To his surprise, Alicia's father was disappointed but understood, recognizing that the two youngsters were really not into each other.

He also praised the importance of Resh's work and the sacrifices he had made for the greater good.

In a moment of levity, Resh couldn't help but tease Alicia's father about finding him an excellent son-in-law. Alicia's cheeks flushed red with embarrassment, but a shy smile graced her lips, revealing her true feelings.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Resh couldn't deny Alicia's excellence. She is a good person, and he was happy to be her friend.

Resh and Alicia embarked on a journey to Serenity Cove a few days later. The atmosphere in the car was filled with a mix of anticipation and apprehension.

Resh is determined to find Florentina and set things right, while Alicia is eager to reunite with Edgar and clarify their feelings.

Shani, though reluctant, begrudgingly agreed to accompany them, swayed by Alicia's promise that seeing Serenity Cove would change her perspective on life.

As usual, they were also accompanied by Alicia's personal bodyguards. She is too important to the Dawn base, and the management would not let her travel between the two bases without escorts.

During the ride, Resh gazed out of the window, lost in thought. His mind was full of worries and fear that Florentina would still be angry at him.

Alicia smiled reassuringly. "We'll find her, Resh. And I'll help you explain everything about our engagement. Flo will understand that it was just a stop-gap measure to keep the stability."
