House chapter

"This is so frustrating!" I lamented, "We can't even do half of these!" We were currently watching clips of the whip cream in the hand of a sleeping person prank.
"Yes, but I have made a list of the ones that we can do.  Or better yet, ones that I can do with the aid of my seidir.  The one with the balls sounds most amusing and I could easily fill the house with them."
"Ok, but that can't be our only one." Nat pointed out.
"What about this?" I explained a variation of a certain prank, "Can you do something like that, Loki?" He examined the video
"I believe so, yes.  Would I also have to do it for the other team?"
"Well, otherwise it wouldn't be any fun and we have to play fair."
"There are a series of air vents in the house that we can use to our advantage."
"I would be surprised if Clint hasn't found them by now." Nat warned us, "He spent more time in the vents at Stark Tower than out of them."
"They're one-way vents.  He hasn't found them.  They're much like the door to this room, disguised, but we can still shoot from them."
"So this makes two big pranks.  Anything else we can think of right now?"
"Well," Steve began, "There's always the classic tripwire."
"And well-placed mirror." Nat caught on.
"There's gotta be something we're forgetting!  We only have four pranks and they've probably got like a dozen!  Loki, what are some of the pranks you played on Thor and the Warriors Three and Sif?"
"Are delayed pranks allowed?"
"There isn't a rule against them so let's say they are."
"Perfect.  Hair dye in their hair cleansers and eggs in their shoes and pillows."
"But that would ruin them!" Steve protested.
"Very well." Loki sighed, "If you will permit me, I will forge a mental web between us so that we may discuss future pranks even when we are not together."
"But what about me?"
"I will leave a fly with you that will buzz in your ear."
"Too distracting.  Just use coms.  They won't hack them, we'll make it a rule."
"Fine." Loki sighed once more and summoned four earpieces, "What should we start with?"
"I think we should stop talking and start setting up tripwires." Nat suggested.
"Sounds good.  Loki, will you place the mirrors?"
"That I will and I will alert you to their locations."
"One last idea, we should have a map of the house so we can mark where our traps are and where theirs are if we find any."
"Good idea." Loki conjured four holographic devices, each of which contained a 3D map of the house.
"These will strap onto your wrists so you won't lose them." He handed them out.
"Ok, team.  Move out!"
"Mira and I will take care of the upstairs, you start down here and we'll meet in the middle."
"Agreed." Loki handed out tripwire equipment.
"But there is one place down here where I would like to place a mirror." He waved the door open and went jogging out.  Only to slip and fall hard on the ground, courtesy of evenly-spaced styrofoam cups full to the brim with water.
"Ow." He got shakily to his feet, the front of his shirt and jeans soaked through, "They're all through here!  How did they do this so quickly!?" I looked at the time.  We'd been in here for an hour and a half.
"It's ten o'clock."
"What?!"
"Yeah...I think we spent more time on YouTube than we meant.  They already have a huge head start."
"Then we had best get going." Loki transformed into a bird and flew off down the hall.
"It doesn't look like the cups continue into the sitting room down there, I pointed towards the white spiral staircase, "I'll go up that way."
"Good luck."
From what I saw, the middle floor was unaffected by the dreaded, water-filled styrofoam cups and the upper floor definitely wasn't.  In fact, as I scouted for good places to put a tripwire, I didn't find any traps or pranks lying in wait for me.  It was really scary.  I ducked into Tony's room so I had some sort of cover against a sneak attack and checked the house hologram and found that, other than all the cups in the basement, nothing else had been flagged.  It made me doubly nervous.  Where was everyone?  I let out a shaky breath as my eyes flicked between all the shadows or any other place that could hide an enemy but fortunately, nobody was here.  Once I calmed down, my eyes landed on the dresser where Pepper had set out and organized her largely new nail polish collection.  Then my gaze strayed to the cracked bathroom door.  This would be good.
After carefully looking through and selecting a bottle of clear, lower-end nail polish, I ventured into the bathroom and took the bar of scented soap from the shower.  I then proceeded to cover it, bit by bit, with the clear, fast-drying polish.  It was only after the entire bar was covered and the polish dry that I realized that Pepper would be affected like this too.  Oh well.  Hopefully she would have the common sense to wait a bit to shower, just long enough for Tony to get frustrated.
Once I was back in the hall, I had the perfect idea of where to leave a tripwire.  In the middle of the hallway between the sitting room and the kitchen.  However, on the way there, as I turned the corner to pass the stide, I ran smack into a broad body stepping off the last stair and would've fallen if not for the cool hand that grabbed my arm.
"Loki!" I hissed, "You know we aren't supposed to go up there!" He shrugged.
"I wasn't seen, none of them were there."
"What did you do?!"
"You shall see tomorrow." He turned and held his hand out and half the slide became invisible.
"Loki!"
"Relax.  I just made the slide reflective, that is all.  Now come, I intend to place a tripwire on the overlook to the secondary sitting room on the ground floor."
"Ok.  I'll do one in the hallway between the living room up and the kitchen up here." Our wrists buzzed and the holograms activated, showing two purple wires, one in the basement kitchen and another at the base of the white spiral.
"It seems our companions have gotten to work." Loki programmed in three green points, one in the basement, another in the attic and a third between the attic and the upper floor, "What have you done so far?"
"Oh!" I quickly added in a point in Tony's room and my color was gold.
"The enemy team is red." Loki explained, but I have not encountered anything from them yet."
"Me neither."
"And this troubles you?"
"Oh yeah.  It was Rose's idea to do this and they only set one trap for us so far?"
"We will encounter them eventually but if their absence truly makes you uncomfortable..." He waved his hand at the wall in front of us and a large vent appeared in it.  Quietly, he removed a portion of the metal panel, just enough for me to squeeze in.  The vent system was much larger than I had originally thought.  I didn't have to crawl like I had imagined!  However, they were very narrow and if my wings were to emerge unexpectedly, I would probably get stuck.  So, I put an extra effort to keep them concealed.
"These vents run inside the walls of every room in the house, it is a rather complex system.  Between levels, there are no stairs.  You must jump down.  The drops do not line up completely so you will land on solid ground."
"But what if I want to get up a level?"
"That is a bit more difficult.  There are carved-out handholds that you must climb up with but if you find yourself unable to, it is perfectly acceptable to exit through one of the vents."
"Ok, but what about the overlooks and stuff?  You know, when you can see down to the sitting room from an upstairs hallway?"
"Ah yes.  There is a similar climbing system to get up above those and a crawlspace above that you can crawl through.  Should you get stuck, there are vents to exit through up there as well."
"That makes no sense!" I hissed, suddenly paranoid that someone was listening in.
"It will once you experience it, it will make much more sense.  Trust me, I designed the system."
"Alright...." I eyes him cautiously.
"Good luck." He went to close the vent.
"Loki, wait!" I grabbed him by the collar and planted a kiss on his lips.  The detached part of the vent fell from his hand, hitting the floor with a loud CLANG as he wrapped his arms around me, deepening the kiss.
When we finally parted, he was panting slightly and I was gasping for breath.
"Damn your big lungs." I heaved.
"It's not so much as my lung size so much as my stamina." He whispered in my ear.  Our moment was broken by heavy footsteps coming our way.
"I had better go." He picked up the vent and repaired the dent it had made in the wooden floor.
"Be safe."
"Set lots of traps." He winked.
"Don't get busted!" I grabbed the vent and slapped it back on, "Now go!  I'll see you later."
"Unless I see you first!"
"Ha ha!  We got you, Loki!" Rose and her teams appeared each of them holding several cups of water.
"GET HIM!" I watched the scene of my boyfriend getting pelted with water hidden from view, Loki was the only one who knew I was there.  And the look he sent towards the vents told me that he wasn't angry, per say, he was just less than amused about it.
