Matt and I talked for a long while as the flight went on, took time in silence to sleep and most of the parts, we got to know each other over a bag of popcorn and candies. But eventually the flight came to an end and he navigated me in a small period of time, telling me the best places around in Toronto and even giving me small directions to my apartment.
But the trick is to get all my things there."Oh Tahnée. Here's my number if you ever want a friend or just for help." He laughed, handing me a small paper where he quickly jotted his number down on. "Thank you so much, really."
"No problem. Good luck with your studies." "Thank you." I yelled as he waved, walking off after collecting his things.
I grabbed a trolley again and loaded all my baggage on before walking to the storage area and saw the lady behind the desk."Hello, my name is Tahnée Summers. I have things in storage here that needs to get to my apartment." The lady behind the counter searched through her files on the dusty old computer. Her glasses hanging low on her nose and her red lipstick is already cracking on her lips.
She's old. But not that old.
It just looks like she had a long long day."Aah Summers. Here you are, just please sign at the bottom of the page." She handed me a piece of paper and I quickly signed at the bottom.
"That was for the release and we'll send a truck over with all your stuff but it might take a day." "Oh that's okay. Thank you very much."
"My pleasure darling."
Matt was right, Canadians really are nice people. As I walked out to catch a cab, I took in the air of Toronto. My nerves are now gone, and I feel so happy to be here. I'm excited.
I got a cab and the driver helped putting my things in the back, I told him where I was heading and he nodded with a smile, getting back in the car and driving me over. It was a very long ride but I observed the views and places as we drove.I got my phone out and called Micheal.
It ringed and ringed till he eventually picked up. "Hello?" He said sleepy and only then it clicked and I remembered that we're now in different time zones.
"Micheal! I'm in Canada." I laughed as I smiled, looking out of the window again. "Really? How is it?"
"It's beautiful."
"That's great Tahnée. I'm so happy for you."
"I wish you were here though, you would've loved it." He chuckled, but not even that, nor his voice sounded the same over the phone."I promise I'll come visit you soon. I don't even know how I'll survive this day when I don't get to see your annoying face."
I laughed, "At least you can sleep now, there's no light for you to stare at." "Yeah, I kind of hate that because now I know you're gone. I wish there was an annoying light that will keep me awake." He sighed, making me smile. "Love you kiddo. Enjoy it."
"Love you too Micheal. Go back to sleep."We said our goodbyes and he hung up. I miss that kid, so much already. Life with him was an adventure on its own, but now I start my own adventure. Alone.
And even though it's a bit scary, I can just try to make every step worthwhile and every memory one to remember.-
After some time we arrived at my apartment and I was surprised to hear the driver offering to help me carry my bags up to my place. "Thank you much." I said, handing him the cash for the ride and he waved as he drove away.
"Canada. You're amazing." I laughed, running back up to my room to get dressed in new clothes other than airport clothes, and then almost immediately starting to unpack and move the place to my style. It was an already furnished house, all I needed was my bed and own room stuff followed with some of my own cutlery. Those are the only things in storage, and that'll most probably arrive around tomorrow.
After it was all done I went to take a shower, get ready and then I left again. Locking the door with my key that has the giraffe keychain on.
My little reminder.
I went down and started sauntering further in to Toronto, looking at all the shops and places.I saw a big shop that kind of looked like a Garden Center than will for sure be my first stop once I get the things from storage. I love flowers and green plants. My mother always said I have green fingers, never leaving the garden till I'm satisfied that I gave it the care it needed. I wonder how bad it'll look now that I'm gone because I was always the one taking control of it.
And here, at this shop, I'll buy myself this biggest bouquet of flowers I can find. The most expensive ones too.As I walked in I saw a sign up by the cash register.
*help wanted*
My heart practically skipped a beat as I smiled, looking around for someone that I can talk to. I saw the small bell next to the sign and I smiled like a little child. I always want to ring them but every shop we entered when I was little my mum always slapped my hand away. Now is my chance... I stepped closer, and dinged the bell. From the back room a old lady appeared, dressed in a light, baby pink shirt with white trousers. "Hello sweetheart." She greeted me with a warm smile. "Hello ma'am. I just saw the sign and I was wondering if the position is still open?" She nodded, placing her hand over one anot as she looked at me. "Do you know anything about gardening?" "Oh yes, I love it." She smiled as she laughed at my excitement over gardening.
Some people might find it odd that a young girl like me find it nice, but it's a passion.
"Then welcome to Lily's Flowers." She shook my hand, handing me a apron. "Oh my gosh, thank you so much. When do I start?" "As early as you can. We're not that busy but afer the weekend people come by a lot." She said, writing down the agreement for me.
Telling me how much I'll get each month and the open and closing time of the shop. She mentioned that on some days she won't be around so I'll be in control of the shop. And that's okay."I actually just moved in from Albuquerque so I'll start tomorrow, is that okay?" "More than okay." She smiled sweetly. "Thank you so much ma'am." "No problem darling, I'll look forward to working with you. It'll be good to see the spirit of a younger person in the shop." She chuckled, waving me off as I walked out.
What a way to start you first day! I already have a job, got my apartment and so far everything went really smoothly. I'm beyond happy, it's indescribable.
If only there were words to describe how I feel right now.
