Suggested Song: Her by Eery

Carmen's POV

I woke up with my phone buzzing beside me.

I opened my eyes and quickly picked it up, praying it was flashing Mums number across the screen. But to no surprise, it didn't. I picked up the phone and put it to my ear.

"Hey Sarah"

"Hey! How is your new home!?" I could hear her smirk through the phone.

"Yeah. It's good actually. Nice and Spacey. And the best part is no Martha, or her snoring" I smile and I hear her giggle in the other side

I twirl a strand of hair around in my finger.

"Well, I'm glad you're happy Char"

I sit up and let go of my hair

"What did you call?" I say unintentionally aggressively

"Uh... Char?..." She repeats and I sit at the foot of my bed in shock

I hadn't heard someone call me Char in years. Its been Carmen for a longtime.

"I'm... Sorry. I just thought you would like a... Nickname" She speaks quietly down the phone

"No! I... I do like it. I just haven't heard someone call me that in a long time" I say smiling through the phone at her

Hearing someone call me that name again gave me comfort and made me feel so normal.

"Ok? Well I gotta go. I'm going on a date with Kobe!" She says excitedly through the phone and I smile

I was happy for her.

I hadn't had a crush since Primary school. And Will ruined that so...

"Haha ok Sarah. Have a good time" I say before hanging up the phone.

I stand up and chuck my phone over by my pillow. I slip off my pajamas and into some clothes.

I look in the mirror and adjust my jacket.

I smile as I tug at my clothes. I remember when I was 14 years old and I asked Dad for a pair of ripped jeans.

*Carmen's Memory*

"What are they good for Char? Looks like you couldn't afford new jeans" Dad giggles as we stand in the middle of the shop

I laugh and playfully shove him.

"No! They're supposed to be like that!" I giggle

"Useless! They don't even keep your knees warm" he says, poking his tongue out at me

"It's called fashion" I pout my lips and through a pair of jeans over my shoulder like a fancy woman's scarf, as though I was disgusted

He giggled and so did I.
