𝐓𝐇𝐄 party was currently underway in the Boarding House; the entire ground floor was crowded with tons of people Caroline had invited, ensuring the entire event would be flooded with strangers and alcohol. People drifted to and from the rooms and, after Elena's entrance and the chorus of happy birthdays erupting throughout the parlour, the area only seemed to grow progressively more crowded.

Damon and Alaric were currently outside on the porch, engaged in conversation somewhere quieter than the raucous of drunk highschoolers inside, leaning against the short stone wall that fenced around the few stairs and the rest of the porch. A faint hum of music from inside lingered around them in the growing darkness that was brightly lit with plenty of various outdoor lights in addition to the yellow radiance illuminating through the windows from the inside.

"I am every parent's worst nightmare. I am the chaperone teacher from hell." Alaric said ⏤ mainly to himself as he gazed at the chaotic mess around him.

"I love high school parties," Damon said, his eyes wandering over the same chaos Alaric was glimpsing over cautiously and whilst doing so, he caught sight of a flash of vibrant red. Focusing his eyes, he noticed a girl wearing a crimson red dress that rested around her mid-thigh; her blonde her hanging loosely from her head in natural waves, shaping her face perfectly.

She stood out from the tons of teenagers around her as she made her way through the crowds, approaching the rift dividing the interior and exterior. She was beautiful ⏤ undoubtedly.  From the way she walked to the way she forced a smile or simply ignored anyone trying to catch her attention. Eventually, she found herself on the same porch they were on, releasing a relieving breath of cool air.

"Olivia," Alaric called her name, shifting the blonde's gaze to land on the history teacher before moving to catch sight of Damon. She knew it was too late to run and so instead she hesitantly approached them both, all the while oblivious to the glare Damon shot the hunter in retaliation to calling her over.

"Hey, Buffy. Long-time no see." Olivia said, throwing a smile his way which he returned with one of his own in response to the nickname she used for him.

"You probably barely even noticed. You were way too busy with spontaneous trips to New Orleans." He returned, daring a brief look over at Damon who currently was wearing an unreadable expression that easily gave off his usual I don't care vibe but the hunter knew that internally, it was the complete opposite.

Alaric was the only person who knew the full story between the two of them and to say it was not ideal was an understatement. Damon had told him time and time again that he wasn't bothered and wasn't in any pain by her absence and that he was finally moving on but Ric knew better than to believe him.
