Between us

I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. I wriggled out of Keith's arms only for him to wake up.
"Y/N babe?" He mumbled
"Oh hi Keith" I replied
"What are you doing what time is it?"
He sat up and looked around
"I wanted to go to the training room"
He walked to her and pulled her back to bed.
"Right now you shouldn't be doing anything but resting"
"But you said if I stood a chance I have to strengthen my powers"
He looked deep into my eyes.
"That can wait you have to be fully rested alright?"
"Yeah okay" I lied
He closed his eyes and I heard the small snores emitting from him. I had to go train
I stood up and got ready. Once I was dressed I walked over to Lotor's cell. I was shocked that he was awake. Does he ever sleep? I slipped inside and he warmly acknowledged me. I explained my questions and he hummed in surprise
"So you want me to help enhance your powers so you can stand a chance at not being consumed?"
"Precisely" I replied
I took his hand and pulled him to the training room.
"Where do we begin?"
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Yep"
He sighed before getting into the lesson.
"How big of an orb can you make?"
"I don't know"
"Try it"
I took a deep breath and concentrated on my palm. A blue orb around the size of a head floated gracefully above my hand. Lotor looked slightly impressed.
"Now try and make it bigger"
I nodded and focused hard. It became bigger by about a centimetre. I looked hopefully at Lototr and he frowned slightly.
"Try again but this time but some energy in it think about some thing comforting"
I hummed and stared at my hand.
"Think happy thoughts," I thought
Images of my family, L/N the team, Keith. At the image of Keith, the energy ball got bigger until I could no longer hold it with one hand. It swelled to the size of a sofa then flickered out. A gave a huff of annoyance.
"You need to be able to maintain it for long periods of time if you wish to engage in combat with a foe," He remarked
I tried again. This time it stayed for a second longer before annoying flickering out.
"Try again use your emotions to fuel it"
I tried again. The orb became bigger and brighter. I struggled to maintain it. After a few minutes, it flickered out.
"Well done" He congratulated me
"Thanks" I smiled warmly
"Now try again. See if you can juggle it from hand to hand"
I tried this and it disappeared in a flurry of sparks.
"Why is this useful?"
"One for entertainment purposes and two if your arm was injured in a fight"
I nodded slowly and tried to bounce it along again. It burst mid-air
"Make sure the way you juggle it is light"
I bounced it from one hand to the other then disappeared.
"Good now try again this time as you reach the other hand enlarge it and maintain it"
I did the action but failed
"Again"
I created anther energy ball
"Now juggle to the next hand" He commanded
I felt the energy draining as the rest of the movements failed
"Again"
Failed. I was getting frustrated by the lack of success.
"Princess clear your mind"
I exhaled sharply and tried again. This time there was a success. My eyes lit up as the instructions were done correctly.
"Well done princess" He cheered
Now for the next task
"What's next?"
"You want to carry on?"
"Yes"
"I did warn you"

*Time skip* 

Author's POV

"Princess I did warn you"
Y/N was currently exhausted from the energy she had used up. She was very close to lying down on the floor and never getting up.
She shot him a small glare
"Can you teach me every day?" She asked
"As you wish" He responded
She gave him a small hug to which he returned.
"You should get some rest " He advised
"No, I'll just practice a bit more" She tiredly replied
He shrugged and looked at the exhausted girl.
"Shall we inform the paladins of our arrangements?" He asked
"It's better to keep it... Between us" She replied
"As you wish"
"Bye Lotor" She waved
"Goodbye princess"
As he walked away Y/N walked to the lions
"Hey L/N I just want to sleep on you for a bit"
She climbed to the mechanical lions paw and lay down drifting to sleep

*Time skip*

"I don't know if I should be angry disappointed or sad," Shiro remarked
"That is the smartest thing anyone has said today" Lance replied
The paladins all stared at Y/N sleeping on her lions paw.
"Guys where's Y/N? I can't find her!" Keith frantically yelled
"She's here" Lance called
He sprinted towards her his motions filled with worry. All the noise woke Y/N up. She opened her eyes and sat up.
"Oh hey babe"
"Y/N why do you look so tired?" He asked
"It's nothing" She replied
She avoided his steely gaze.
"Y/N what happened?"
"I'm going to breakfast" She completely ignored his question.
She ran to the kitchen not wanting to be stopped. She had to keep it between her and Lotor
