chapter 37

draco's pov

we walk into the three broomsticks after stopping by honeydukes. immediately i scan the room, looking for y/n. i see her in the back corner, still with cedric, laughing about something

"will you wipe that sour look off your face" daphne says, coming to stand next to me, "what's gotten.." she trails off, following my line of sight, "ohhh i see. don't like her hanging around other boys?" she teases

"shut it, daphne" i glare at her, "i just don't like him"  we walk over and grab a table for all of us (daphne, pansy, crabbe, goyle, and myself), then ordering drinks and some food

"you're jealous" daphne says with a smile on her face, "just admit it"

"will you leave it alone" pansy rolls her eyes, "even if he was, he's not about to say so. let's just move on" she says, clearly annoyed. i think she's still bitter i never liked her... whenever daphne bugs me about y/n pansy always tries to change the subject

"hey guys" i look up to see y/n standing before us, "room for me to join?" she smiles and daphne moves over, making a seat between her and pansy. y/n sits down and puts her drink on the table, starting up a conversation with the girls

"what did diggory want?" i interrupt them, looking diagonally across the table at her, she looks over at me, slight shock on her face

"for someone from a nice family you have awful manners" she chuckles, smirking slightly, "ever heard of the phrase 'excuse me'?" she raises her eyebrows at me, then rolls her eyes and turns back to daphne.

i wait a moment, still looking over at her. i can't help but smile slightly before i speak again, "excuse me?" she looks back at me, "what did diggory want?" i repeat myself

"i don't think that's any of your business, malfoy" she smirks at me again, and i almost feel myself flush, so i turn away quickly to talk to crabbe. when i look back over, she's talking to pansy, but i see her eyes keep flicking back to me. after we make eye contact, i smile slightly, but bite my lip to keep it at bay, looking down at my food.

your pov

two days later, and i'm sitting in the common room, finishing up memorizing what charms work on dragons. the task is tomorrow. i yawn a little, it's only little past ten o'clock, but i'm tired from a long day of classes (of course the task had to be on a tuesday, when i have classes every period the day before).

i'm about to leave daphne and pansy to go up to the dorm, figuring i should rest early to make sure i'm ready tomorrow. i walk through the door and sit on my bed, taking a deep breath. just as i'm about to start changing, i hear a tapping on my window.

"perseus?" i whisper, seeing draco's owl on the other side of the glass. quickly, i reach over and open the window slightly, letting the owl in. he drops a letter in my lap and then flies back out, disappearing up into the clouds. i shut the window tightly and then look to the letter, folding it open.

astronomy tower

it takes me a minute to slip out of the common room, and even longer to sneak through the halls up to the astronomy tower. draco always chooses to meet at the most inconvenient places, and almost always after curfew.
