"we're finally finding out tonight what the third task is" i walk out of transfiguration, turning to draco. mcgonagall held me back to tell me that i have to meet mr. bagman and the other champions on the quidditch pitch tonight. when i walked out, draco was leaning next to the doorway, waiting for me.

"took them long enough" he scoffs, straightening up and starting to walk down the hall with me. he's right, we've all been dying to find out what the final task is. it's now the last week in may, nearly three months since the second task, two months since things started up between draco and i, "any idea what it will be?"

"we've got no clue" i sigh, "cedric and i have been trying to puzzle it out for weeks now, still haven't come up with anything"

"speaking of cedric" draco mutters, stopping short and glaring down the hall. i see cedric walking quickly towards us, a serious look on his face.

"y/n, hey" he smiles, stopping in front of me and then looking at draco, "malfoy" he says curtly, draco nods back in response. the two of them still don't get along, by any means, but i think they try their best for me, "they told you about the meeting tonight, yeah?" cedric says, turning back to me

i nod, "yeah, mcgonagall just told me"

"good. want to meet in the entrance hall to walk over?" he says hopefully. i see draco's face fall slightly

"i have to go meet blaise to study" draco says, "i'll see you at dinner" he smiles a little, waving goodbye to me and then continuing to walk down the hall

cedric watches after him for a second before looking at me, "still not kissing you goodbye?"

"no" i shrug, "he's still keeping things 'private'... although i'm sure all of our friends have figured it out by now" i laugh a little, but i'm sure cedric can hear the doubt in my voice. the past couple months have been odd, with draco. i've pushed down all of my fears about him not wanting to talk about our relationship, not wanting to define it, but every now and then they come back up again, and i question how he really feels about me.

"prick" cedric says, shaking his head, "anyways, entrance hall?"

"yeah, i'll meet you there" i nod absentmindedly, saying goodbye to him and then walking down to the dungeons to find daphne.

"i just want a normal relationship" i sigh, laying back onto my bed

"any relationship with draco will be far from normal" daphne laughs, "only time he's come close to one before you was pansy, and he hated her" i chuckle, turning my head to look at daphne, "bottom line is, he needs to get used to someone actually liking him for him, not his status like she did"

"i know" i sigh, she gives me this talk every time i start to spiral. i said it to her after a couple weeks with draco, when she started to question his intentions. now she repeats it constantly, throwing my own words back at me, "it's just hard sometimes"

"it'll get better" she says reassuringly. i nod slowly, turning my head as the door opens

"hey" pansy says coldly, "draco's looking for you"

"is he still in the library with blaise?" i sit up, reaching down for my bag

"no, he walked back here with me" she smirks slightly. i look at daphne, who's rolling her eyes. i nod, trying not to let her get to me. she's never formally confronted me about draco, but everything between us has been more tense lately, so i'm pretty sure she knows... and isn't very happy about it. i put down my bag, now just having to walk downstairs. I reach the bottom step, sweeping my eyes back and forth across the room before seeing draco in the armchairs by the back corner. I make my way over, taking the seat across from him and smiling
