Zhang Yi and his two companions returned to the community, pushing three carts loaded with supplies.

Along the way, many neighbors witnessed the scene, sparking discussions.

Zhang Yi no longer cared about being discovered hoarding supplies. The news of his shopping spree was likely known, especially to those two gossiping neighbors.

If his only goal was survival, he could sell all his assets and build an impregnable fortress in a remote, deserted place. But how would he then exact revenge on the neighbors who had tortured him in his previous life?

Without eliminating those people, Zhang Yi's mental burden would never disappear.

Hence, one of his post-apocalyptic plans was to stay in this community and seek a different, more ruthless form of revenge against those who owed him. However, this plan hinged on the security company's ability to create an impenetrable shelter.

If that failed, he had a backup plan: constructing an underground shelter in a desolate area.

Observing the neighbors discussing his substantial purchases, Zhang Yi anticipated the scenes of them attempting to raid his home during the apocalypse.

But this time, he was prepared. He wanted them to see but not touch, leaving them frustrated.

Living in an apartment building with his companions, Zhang Yi often helped neighbors purchase discounted items due to his role in managing Walmart's warehouse. This made him well-known in the community.

Seeing them return with a significant haul, a middle-aged woman with her grandson approached.

"Little Zhang, why did you bring back so much stuff? Is it from the warehouse?"

"You can't possibly use all of this. How about sharing some with the neighbors?"

This was Lin, who worked for the neighborhood committee. She often took advantage of her slight influence to boss around her neighbors, considering herself a leader.

In the past, she frequently had Zhang Yi buy cheap items for her and even extorted some food from him in his previous life.

When the chaos erupted and neighbors rushed to raid Zhang Yi's home, she not only didn't intervene but also showed more vigor than the younger ones.

Zhang Yì and his companions, not wanting trouble, quickly explained, "These are all purchases made by Zhang Yi. We're just helping him bring them home."

Lin squinted at Zhang Yi and smiled, "Little Zhang, it seems these are items from your warehouse. How about sharing some with Lin?"

While talking, her grandson, Little Tiger, had climbed onto one of the carts and grabbed a box of chocolates, eyeing the expensive imported treats.

Without a word, Zhang Yi snatched the items back. "Sorry, these are for my own consumption!"

With a sudden change in her expression, Lin said, "You..."

Zhang Yi's lack of courtesy angered her. Especially when her grandson, now in tears, shouted, "You bad man! Give me back the chocolate, or I'll beat you!"

Coldly, Zhang Yi warned, "One more word, and I'll slap you!"

Terrified, Little Tiger burst into tears, sitting on the ground and throwing a tantrum.

Lin hurriedly comforted her grandson, then reprimanded Zhang Yi, "You're an adult. Why argue with a child? Just give him the chocolate. I'll pay you back. Don't act so stingy!"

Zhang Yi sneered. With the convenience of mobile payments, her promise to pay later seemed like an attempt to evade the cost.

"I said, these are for my own consumption. If you want chocolate, go buy it yourself!"

Zhang Yi coldly rebuffed her and signaled for his companions to leave.

As they walked away, Lin started hurling insults at them.

Ignoring the commotion, Zhang Yi focused on the plan ahead. After pushing the three carts home, he instructed his companions to leave.

"Zhang Yi, don't forget to treat us!" teased Fang Yuqing, playfully winking.

However, Zhang Yi felt a surge of nausea upon seeing Fang Yuqing's gesture. He mumbled a vague response. The two women intended to stay and investigate Zhang Yi's background but, sensing his reluctance, left instead.

Afterward, Zhang Yi opened his personal space, storing the acquired goods. He intended to observe whether the items would undergo any changes in this unique space.

Completing these tasks, it was already late in the evening. Instead of resting immediately, Zhang Yi took out pen and paper, meticulously planning the next month's preparations.

Though usually lazy, the will to survive brought out his latent potential. "To live comfortably in the apocalypse, food is the first issue, easily solvable."

"Except for my daily purchases, everything else can be taken from the warehouse. However, I can't rush; thorough investigation is crucial, and I must collect supplies a few days before the apocalypse to avoid attracting attention. If caught, survival in a cell would be challenging."

"Next is heating. After the apocalypse, energy will be scarce, and air conditioning will quickly become unusable. The simplest solution is a fireplace!"

"The fireplace and heated floor operate on similar principles. In Europe, where winters are extremely cold, people use these methods to endure the long winter."

"To achieve this, I need to renovate the house, ideally adding insulation layers."

Thinking of the past invasion, Zhang Yi shuddered. "The house must be turned into an impregnable fortress."

"First, install thick steel plates or alloy materials, capable of withstanding common explosives."

"After the apocalypse, people will resort to anything for survival. Full preparation is necessary, considering one's life is at stake. I don't want to experience death again."

"The issue of a safe house is manageable. There's a security company in Tianhai City specializing in protecting the elite. They offer services to build secure rooms."

Recalling news from his past life, Zhang Yi remembered stories of billionaires constructing fortresses capable of resisting small arms fire.

"Then, medicines. I must prevent illness from becoming incurable."

"Walmart's warehouse contains many commonly used medications for minor ailments. Still, these won't be enough."

"The Cambrian Storm will last for at least several decades. I need to prepare thoroughly."

Fortunately, Zhang Yi had good connections in Tianhai City. Working in warehouse management, he knew some hospital warehouse staff. With sufficient funds, obtaining any medicine shouldn't be an issue.

Addressing these concerns, Zhang Yi noted down each task and ticked off "Food."

"Next is heating."

"After the apocalypse, energy supply will be scarce, rendering air conditioning useless. So, we'll need to use more primitive methods. A fireplace is the first choice!"
