Donna had just parted from her daughter and Gen was now on her way to the high school, Frank incapacitating her brain. She wondered if they'd sit next to each other in first period. That's what friends do, right? They sit beside each other? Ugh, just shut up, Gen. You're overthinking things.

She did the routine task of getting her textbook from her locker and stopping by the bathrooms to get a drink from the water fountain before entering Physical Science. When Genevieve's eyes landed on her desk, they traveled one place over, where Frank sat, smiling cheekily at her.

"Hey, Gen," he greeted as she sat down and placed her pencil and books onto her desk's surface.

"Hi Frank," she smiled back. Just play it cool. You can't lose this one.

"My mom wanted me to tell you thanks for the ride yesterday, by the way."

"Really? Oh, that's sweet. Tell her it was no problem."

"I will. She kind of freaked out 'cause I'd already made a friend on the first day and that's the farthest I've gotten my entire life," he said, then realized what he'd admitted to and covered his mouth. "Wow... I can't believe I said that."

Gen laughed and leaned closer to him, "Don't worry, me too."
