"Your Highness, watch out!"

A shout woke Zi Gang up from his stupor, seconds away before a blade slashed his body into half.

"Shit!" Zi Gang cursed.

Instinctively, he rose up his arm to defend, finding out that in his grip was a double-edged long sword.

The moment it came in contact with his opponent's blade, it made a crisp loud sound and sparks instantly flew.

"Kuh—" his opponent groaned.

Not finding the opportunity to marvel at the beauty of the sword in his hand, Zi Gang made a move to slash at his opponent on his chest and finish him once and for all. As he did so, the reflection of his fierce yet handsome appearance danced warmly on the steel, his actions created a valiant and admirable picture.

"Your highness, are you alright?" One of the soldiers came up to him. A sheen layer of sweat was on his forehead. It was obvious that the man had just abandon his fight to express his concern to his immediate superior.

Your highness? Me?

Ding! [Transferring the mission and world information to the host...]

Zi Gang decided to take a gamble on his high position to go back to his tent so that he could receive this world's mission.

"Finish up in a half an hour. I'll be going back first to my tent." Zi Gang ordered the soldier on his right as he turned around.

"Yes, sir."

I'm right. This body of mine seems to have a pretty high standing in this world.

As Zi Gang entered his tent, he immediately took a seat on the edge of his bed, closing his eyes.

"System, send me the mission."

The world that he was in, was difficult to describe with one word. It was neither an ancient nor a modern world; it had quite a high technology where firearms and cars were available, yet the mindset and mentality of this world had stagnated into that of an ancient world.

The world Zi Gang currently resided in had a form of government of a monarchy where their emperors were considered as the Son of Heaven(1) and they ruled as absolute monarchs throughout their reign, thus maintaining a centralized grip on their country.

Despite the fact that the internet was available to expose them to much more possibilities, their mindset were very much close-minded. Polygamy was still part of their marriage customs and it was practiced throughout the country. The reason was due to the fact that Chinese culture was patrilineal, and it was important for a couple to have a son. And so, the males (the emperors included) were encouraged to have as many concubines as possible as to increase their chance of having a son.

If that wasn't enough, homosexuality or same-sex sexual attraction was considered also abnormal and a mental disorder that needed a cure, due to the exposure of western intolerance of homosexuality(2). In fact, men that were caught engaging in homosexual acts could be prosecuted under the crime of "hooliganism"(3).

When Zi Gang read that part, he felt like crying himself to death. It was probably impossible for him and his lover to have any relationship in this world.

Yet the worst part had yet to come.

The male lead of this world was a young general called Shao Liang. His birth was that of a commoner but due to his hard work and tenacity, he was able to quickly come up in ranks into his current standing today. Many admired him for his valiant figure, the ladies that fell in love with him could no longer be counted with fingers.
