Song:
Killer Queen (Queen)

For as long as Remus Lupin could remember himself, one thing always seemed to be constant.

No, it wasn't his parents. His father frequently travelled around Europe for ministry business
and he could even go whole months without seeing him and his mother, being a nurse, usually worked long shifts at the hospital an hour away from their house. It also wasn't his friends. The young boy had met the only people he considered truly his friends when he was 11 years old at his first ride on Hogwarts Express. Then what could it be that was always there, never changing in the slightest bit?

It was the huge mansion next to his house.

Looking absolutely out of place in the most peculiar yet elegant way, Remus Lupin had always been intrigued by the mysterious looking house that was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claire. Unlike all the other houses in the small suburban area he lived in, the mansion was much bigger and reminded him more of something out of a Tim Burton movie than a normal house with a white picket fence and a groomed garden. From the window of his room, he would be able to see inside the house, but like every other single window in the mansion, it was closed shut with heavy black curtains blocking his view. The Claires were also kind of odd. They weren't bad people, if anything, they had always been polite to him and even sent him a card on his birthday every year without fail. But how does one truly start to describe the couple?

First of all, they weren't muggles, something which surprised pleasantly his father. Now he wouldn't have to worry about the neighbors seeing little toddler Remus Lupin levitate his drawing books when he got upset or them gossiping about the owl going back and forth his house with a letter or package tied to its leg.

Thomas Claire was a tall man with broad shoulders. His dark brown hair had started to turn white in some places, as did his well-groomed beard. His light blue eyes were framed by a pair of golden, circular glasses that never left his face; resting on top of his defined, pointy nose. As far as Remus had seen, the man never smiled, laughed, or even showed any kind of emotion for that matter. His lips were pressed into a permanent thin line that made him look ten times more unapproachable. Mr. Claire was always seen wearing an ironed to perfection suit, no matter the social event.

Vera Claire was a short woman with a very thin frame, that contrasted her husband's. Her blonde hair was always pulled back in a slick low bun or braid, making her face appear even more defined. She had a pair of dark brown eyes, framed by long, dark eyelashes, that reminded Remus of an endless void to the point where he avoided looking at the woman's eyes at all costs. The boy didn't see Vera as much as Thomas, but when he did, she always greeted him with a court nod and a tight smile. Whether it was genuine or not, he didn't really know, but she didn't smile all that much, so he took it as a compliment. She was a very elegant and classy woman, as his mother often said, following the same dressing habits as her husband, by wearing formal clothes at any time of the day.
