Lily POV
"You play way too much Kaash, get down!" Kaash was sitting on her whip blasting and singing to Rihanna but the gagg is that we were literally in the middle of the road. Thankfully it ain't that busy but I can't count the number of people who cussed us out already.

"Or maybe you don't play enough ma. Life short, you gotta try to enjoy every second of it or you gon die miserable shawty."
"Yeah aight okay." I waved her off.
"And why you keep looking around like that? Who you checking for? What, your boyfriend don't want you liming with me or sumn?" She asked confusing me.
"Wtf are you even getting at. No, Dave doesn't have an issue with us being friends why would he? You were at my party have you forgotten?"
"The whole of Harlem and then sumn were at your party Lily, I doubt little ole me was noticed." She chuckled.
"Look Kaash the streets been hot so I'm just a little paranoid. I'm not trynna attract any unnecessary attention."
"Why cause you dating East? You can relax I'm sure he got that shit handled and who would really come for East girl?"
"Now you of all people know that folks don't give a fucc bout boundaries. Anybody could get hit."
"Aight you right but I didn't need you freaking out. Look East in war because of that nigga he and his crew smoked couple months ago. That Dthang nigga, this just a retaliation. That's how the street goes, it's a back and forth between gangs almost like a tug of war." She shrugged like that was the most normal thing to say. Although I guess to her it is because she's fully accepted this life and everything that comes with it. Me on the other hand? Tuh, I know full well how the street life works and I'm surrounded by people in it too but when it gets this close though? I'm ready to shit my damn self. People really want my man dead. I mean this ain't nothing new because Dave is well respected as well as envied. He always had been but now they actually got a reason to come at him hard. Niggas were calm before but this war bout to change everything. It had me nervous asf too not just for Dave but all my friends around him and my fuckin brother. It's times like these that I wish I was like my grandmother back in the day and scolded Chris for hanging with the wrong crowd. Both he and Kaedan had dreams and goals of their own. Kaedan wanted to become a professional basketballer and Chris—well the last thing that he wanted to be was a rapper typical hood nigga. Now, they're both heavily invested in this life and there ain't no easy way out of it.
"You good, shit gon work out Lily but let me take you home though. It's getting kinda late anyway."
I just nodded and hopped back inside the car. We drove in a comfortable silence and before I knew it we were pulling up to my home. However, I didn't expect to see Dave and Chris' cars outside.
"What the fucc.." i mumbled to myself as I got out the car.
As soon as I walked in the house, I wish I didn't. Chris looked livid and it looked like it was directed at me which is fuckin rare.
"YO YOU FUCCIN JOKING RIGHT NOW. Where tf you been Aaliyah?!"
"Wtf is your problem Chris!? Nigga back tf up why you coming at me like that?" I looked passed him and saw Dave sitting on the couch with a mean mug. I wasn't liking this one bit but I was confused more than anything else.
"Where you coming from" Chris asked again too loud and harsh for my liking.
"What does it matter?" I remarked just as Danny came running down the stairs. She looked at me shocked and possibly....relieved?
"Danny why you here?" I questioned.
"That's the least of your worries right now ma." Dave finally spoke up.
"Christian you better stop all that goddamn yelling in my house right now. Can't you see she's confused? Y'all hovering over her like she some criminal. I suggest you both leave and talk to her in the morning when you're calm. Whatever this is, it can certainly wait." Our grandmother spoke sternly. I looked among them still confused especially since she said they can both leave while Danny stood right next to her.
"I'm staying the night." She clarified almost like she read my thoughts. I just nodded and watched as Chris stormed out. Dave calmly got off the couch still with a mug look but it really hurt when he left without a word not even so much as a glance my way.
"Now y'all two better keep it down. I've had enough noise for tonight." Granny spoke as she made her way back to her bedroom.
