Gar and raven begin their walk by the sea on their to the town.
Raven looking to the sea and her eyes couldn't depart.
"It looks huge doesn't it?" Gar implied
She looked back at him.
"The water. Like it's endless."
"You have no idea" she muttered
"What?"
"Oh. Nothing." Raven remembering she cannot talk about this.
"So, where are you from?" Gar asks
"Um.. not too far." She says feeling nervous.
"Well. You may like it here. Depends what you like." Gar mentions. "We all know one another here. There's a tavern here. Sometimes there's dancing."
"Dancing?" She recalls
"Yea. Have you never danced?"
She shakes her head.
"Why not? Do you not like it?"
"No.. I just never tried."
"That's crazy. What about when someone asks you? You must have to say no a lot."
She laughs lightly as she blushes. "No one asks me."
"Okay I have a hard time believing that."
"Why? Don't you believe me?" Worried he is suspicious of her and oblivious he is being flirty
"Well no. I just think you're a.. nice looking person. Most guys would do things just to impress a girl to dance."
She laughs.
He smiles while watching her laugh.
As they get to town she sees stores and children playing and carriages.
"Wow" she sighs.
"Well, here's where I work." He guides her into the little shop.
"Work?" Raven asks looking around
"Yea. You know.. I pack things. Sometimes deliver. "
"Why?"
"Well because I need money. Heh." He laughs thinking her questions are odd
"You need money?"
"Yea.. I wanna save enough for my own boat. I want to travel." He tells her as he starts working
"Travel? Where to?"
"Anywhere. Haven't you ever wanted to? Like you didn't feel you belonged where you are.."
"More than anything."
A friend walks in the shop. "Hey, Garfield."
"Hi, Mrs. Ottis. Can I help you?" Gar greets her
"Just some sugar. We're having a little thing tonight and I was hoping you'd come and play for us."
"Absolutely."
"And who is this pretty lady?" The woman asks
"This is Raven. She's new here." He introduces them
"Well, I hope you will be coming too. It will be a fun night. Bring your parents, and arrive early, dear." She tells Gar before leaving
"What is the thing?" She asks curious
"It's kind of a party. You dance. You drink."
"Oh."
"Would you like to come?" He asks
She smiles and nods
Before the get together that night Raven visited the beach. She made sure no one seen her and set her clothes for when she returns. She pulled out her mirror. Worded the enchantment and transitioned back into her mermaid form.
She swam to her home. Rose greets her. "Raven!"
"Rose!" They greeted each other.
"Tell me everything." Rose takes her hand and they go to their bedrooms.
Raven tells her about the town, the people and how she manages to go from swimming to walking.
"Come on. Tell me about what I really wanna know." Rose crossing her arms smirking
"I don't know what you're talking about." She plays dumb
"Oh I think you do"
"Fine.. He is so nice. And I'm going to this place tonight with his family and friends.. to dance."
"Dance? Rae how are you going to dance? You just learnt to walk!" Rose stunned
"I know. I know. But I wanna try." Raven pouts
"Well:. What are you waiting for? Get back there and dance!" Rose laughs
"Really?" She bites her lip.
"Absolutely. I'm telling you to go. No exceptions." Rose smiles
"Ok. Well, go with me to the shore will you? I'd like you to hold onto my mirror just in case anyone finds it." Raven asks her
"Sure." She swam to shore with her and after raven formed into a human she took the mirror with her back to their home in the sea.
As raven dressed up she found her way to their home where the mother fixed her hair in fish tail braids
"Garfield has already left to get in coordinated with the instruments. We'll just be on our way soon."
