"so, have you decided to be an astronaut after all?" i asked mark
"eh, i don't know yet"
"anspaugh told me not to"
"well, just know that it's you're choice mark"
"yeah, i know"
"i got that meeting about it later today"
i nodded.
"you seen doug around?" i asked
"you didn't come here with him?"
"no, i did"
"been working for almost two hours and haven't seen him yet"
"i'm guessing he's with a kid"
"you know, i would've never guessed that mark" i smiled, sarcastically
he laughed
"if you'll excuse me, i have a butt rash to look after"
"and y/n, you now have all over body hives in exam two" jerry smiled
i walked over there, as slow as i possibly could.
"ms henning?" i asked
"are you my doctor?" she asked angrily
"why, yes i am"
"do you know what caused these hives?" i asked
"yeah, i'm allergic to this body lotion i had and i must've accidentally used it"
"okay, we'll get you some benadryl and anti inflammatory"
"i'll monitor you for while but it seems that you'll be just fine"

"y/n" carol shouted down the hall
"i've been looking all over for you" she smiled
"what's up?" i asked
"joi from a couple weeks ago is back and she wanted to talk to you"
"oh, alright" i smiled
"where is she?"
"over by the peids"
"is ricky okay?"
"he stopped talking a week ago"
i frowned
"it's really sad, isn't it?" carol added
"sure is"
"anyways, thanks for letting me know" i smiled, heading peids way.
"joi" i said, sitting down next to her
"oh, dr. l/n" she smiled
"i just wanted to thank you for everything with ricky"
"i meant to send you a thank you note"
"i'm glad respite has been help" i smiled
"did you get to your daughters recital?"
"yes, i did" she nodded
"i didn't expect to have such a hard time coping, i usually don't"
"well, that's usually a sign of coping too much"
"i got my daughter tested for ald"
"thank god, she doesn't have the horrible disease to pass on to her children"
"you know that it's not your fault right"
"i know but i can't help to feel the one to blame"
"you're a strong woman joi"
"thanks again for everything dr. l/n, you and dr. ross both have been great" she smiled
"we'll do anything we can for you, it's our job"
"i'm gonna go check on dr. ross" i smiled
i walked into the room
"how's he doing?" i whispered
"lost ability to talk not long ago"
i stoked his hair
"he's in a lot of pain"
"i wish there was something more we could do" i said
"well, i'm thinking about it"

"y/n, mark needs your help sawing this guys head open" malik shouted
"what?"
"has neuro been called?"
"they won't be here for another twenty minutes" mark shouted
the guy from neuro stood there yelling at mark to stop.
"i need you to twist this"
"jesus christ" i said, twisting the man's head open
"not too far down" the other doctor yelled
"there's the clot" i pointed out
mark took over.
"he's ready for the or"
"good job you two"
i guess i can officially say i've pried someone's head open..

i've been dealing with pretty boring patients the rest of the night.
"y/n"
"carol"
"could you do me a huge favour?"
"depends on what that is"
"i have this patient, he's dying and needs his joint to calm him down"
"his son couldn't come"
"so?"
"so i spend the past few minutes smoking it to him"
"i have to meet someone"
"it's all good carol" i smiled
"y/n, thank you"
"his son will be here in about fifteen minutes"
"have a good night carol"
"you too" she smiled

is spent the past ten minutes smoking a joint into a patients mouth.
i felt bad for the guy.
not long later his son came to take him home though.
can't say i've ever done that either. i guess today is a perfect example of: there's a first time for everything.
"did you know about doug taking the pain medication for the federal study and giving it to ricky abbott?" mark asked
we were both in the lounge.
"what're you talking about" i laughed
mark held a serious face
"you're serious?"
he nodded
"mark, please just talk to doug"
"i'm sure he'll explain to you what he was thinking"
mark walked away.

i was back at my apartment cradling a cup of tea in my hands.
"mark said it himself, he wasn't gonna use all the samples"
doug stood in front of me.
"breaking research protocol could damage the hospitals funding"
"you agree with them?"
"no, i see their point though"
"the hospital is only at risk if somebody goes out of their way to report me"
"kerry weaver" i said
"exactly"
we sat there in silence. his jaw was clenched and i could tell he was angry.
doug put on his shoes and walked out of the apartment.
"doug" i groaned
i followed him down the stairs and outside.
"doug" i shouted
i ran after him.
"i need support y/n, not solutions or trying to see their point"
he was practically fuming now
"doug"
i stopped walking.
"that kid breaks my heart" i said
"when i saw him for the first time it broke my heart"
"he's suffering"
"you think i want to see that?"
"i want nothing more than to help the family"
"i have your back, you should know that"
"all that i was trying to do was explaining marks point"
he looked at me and shook his head
"i need a minute" he mumbled, running a hand through his hair.
