This chapter was *phew* very emotional to write.

Shayla opened the door and her expression startled Aric. She looked too calm to his comfort. Shayla closed the door behind her and made her way downstairs without looking into his eyes.

"Why are you avoiding looking at my eyes?" Aric asked dubiously. "Shayla, what's going on in your funny head? Shayla? SHAYLA!" He finally yelled frustratingly as he pulled her back and held her arms with a tight grip and shook her, "TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOU NOW," he spoke severely.

"Aric, leave me," Shayla spoke plainly without looking at his face.

"If you are thinking that you exiting from my life will solve everything and will make everything easy then you are stupidly wrong."

"My parents are here, leave me, Aric."

"Don't let those rumors get into your head. You are the best person I could ever find."

"Leave me, it's hurting," Shayla spoke as Aric's grip painfully tightened.

"Shayla this can be solved," Aric spoke desperately, "JUST LOOK AT ME DAMN IT! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TALK TO YOU FOR HOURS! FIRST YOU LEFT FOR GOD KNOWS WHERE...AND NOW WHEN YOU ARE HERE, YOU LOCKED YOURSELF IN THAT STUPID ROOM-"

"LEAVE ME!" Shayla bellowed and pushed him back strongly and Aric's eyes widened in shock. It took him some seconds to get a hold of his astonishment.

"You wanna talk? FINE! Let's TALK! What is there to TALK?? Can't you see? We are falling apart! WE ARE STUCK IN A SHITHOLE AND ONE OF US HAS TO MOVE ASIDE SO THAT THE OTHER ONE CAN FUCKING GET OUT OF IT!!!"

Aric didn't get time to yell back because Mrs. Sukeney shouted Shayla's name and she quickly went downstairs with Aric hastily following her.

Mr. Stepin was sitting on the sofa and his eyes darkened when he saw his daughter with Aric. Mrs. Sukeney took long, menacing steps towards Shayla, and before she could stop herself...

SMACK!

Aric stopped abruptly and his hands balled in a fist while everyone else in the room stood up and gaped incredulously at Mrs. Sukeney.

Shayla palmed her hot, stinging cheek where her mother slapped her. She knew why she slapped her. And she knew that she deserved it. Her mother slapped her because she loved her the most, she was worried for her. She earned a slap because she hid the news of getting a bullet pierced in her body.

"YOU WERE IN HOSPITAL! YOU WERE SHOT? YOU COULDN'T WALK FOR A MONTH!? AND SOMEONE ELSE'S MOTHER LOOKED AFTER YOU INSTEAD OF YOUR OWN MOTHER! EVERYONE KNEW ABOUT IT EXCEPT YOUR OWN FAMILY??!" Mrs. Sukeney shouted breathlessly.

Shayla's eyes flicked over at Mrs. Peppila and her expression spoke Told you, Shayla, to inform your parents. They had the first right to know.

"Or is it that you don't care anymore about telling your parents about your life and troubles? WE ARE YOUR PARENTS!" Mrs. Sukeney's face was turning redder with every passing minute while Mr. Stepin stood up from the sofa and stood beside his wife and rubbed her back soothingly.

"You...you never hid anything from us, Shayla. What happened to you? Maybe you are too grown up to bother about informing your parents," Mrs. Sukeney spoke weekly in a broken voice as she cried.

"Mumma," Shayla spoke in a low voice and hugged her. "I'm sorry. I didn't want you guys to worry..."

"What if you have..di..die...died," Mrs. Sukeney spoke while hiccuping a sob. "Aric can find another girlfriend after you, but we have only one daughter, only one Shayla. You have no idea how painful it was to see our daughter getting harassed online so mercilessly. We can't let you stay here anymore and call them you with dirty names."
