Shayla opened her notebook and inhaled loudly as she began writing-

Change is necessary for life. Though it takes some time to adjust when things are changing rapidly around us, eventually we do pick up the pace to cope with the transforming phases of life. I was afraid, as everything was happening rather quickly. Moving to a big city and meeting big people, was scary, to be honest. You have to be flexible in order to feel comfortable in a new place. And me? I'm not a flexible person, but I was trying my best. I had stopped holding myself back. I was learning to rip that comfort cocoon of mine. I ripped it apart to get close to him. That boy. My savior I would like to call him. He is unaware of the fact that he pulled me out of the pit of darkness. He made me smile, he made me laugh. I knew the dangers of being close to him. He was crashing down all my plans, which I had in my mind when I first moved here, and I was gladly letting him crash them. He was like fire. Fire gives you warmth when you are close to it, but it burns you inside out when you touch it. Fire is good if you maintain your distance, but it's lethal when you, like a crazy person, dare to touch it. And me, I am a crazy person who was daring to touch it, who was daring to cross all that invisible boundaries to touch him, to feel him. I knew I will burn in the end. But I don't care anymore. I welcome this burning. Let me burn. Let him burn me.

The bell rang which made Shayla close her notebook. She got up from the seat and started keeping her stuff in her back when Liania, her only friend in the class, sauntered towards her.

"Must be a solid reason?" Liania asked Shayla expectantly and she understood what Liania was talking about. Shayla was a frontbencher since childhood and she told this thing to Liania when they shared the first seat for the very first time. Shayla never liked sitting at the back because it would always distract her.

"I'm writing a novel. There was this sudden itch inside my head to write one more chapter, so I decided to become a backbencher for one day, don't want the professor to see me writing love stories during lectures, no?" Shayla said.

It was evening time when Shayla entered the football ground and started looking for Respina. Respina was having a drink break and was gulping down the glucose juice like she was stuck in the desert for years. Her eyes widened when she saw Shayla walking towards her, but it didn't stop her from drinking her glucose.

"Man," Shayla chuckled, "You are completely worn out, Miss Trinpit."

"For now I'm just amazed. Coco, as in Shayla Paeker, is here? Here at the football field? Bless my eyes. You wanna play?"

"Really? Do you think I wanna play? I and sports are like the North and South pole. Anyways, I need your help."

"I'm all ears, babe," Respina said as she wiped her mouth from the back of her hand.

"I need your help to get me a part-time job."

"Really?! Do you even have time for a part-time job? With all your studies and writing. Nowadays you are working on your book right?"

"Respina, I want to join driving classes. And I don't like to ask for money from my father for every single thing. I want to earn."

"Shayla?! Here," Respina waved her hand in front of Shayla's face, "I'm here. You can see me right? I'm not invisible. I can teach you to drive. Why join classes then."

"Nope. You have your sports practice for like four hours straight. Then you have to study too. I don't want to burden you."

Respina knew Shayla had a point. Her schedule was packed nowadays. She was on the girls' football team of her college, also exams were near. She had no time.
