Lillian's POV

I thought it was extremely sweet that Stefani wanted to make me breakfast... especially when she blamed herself for waking me up. I'm enjoying how our relationship is improving little by little- I had no idea she liked girls..

This changes everything!

N-not like that... she's my step daughter, and the way I just said that came off wrong. I meant like being able to talk to her about relationships and stuff like that. It's a good change. She was being sarcastic about asking the internet for tips about living with a lesbian step daughter, but I really want to make this work.

"I overthink too much," I mumbled lowly to myself as the shower relaxed my scalp and tensed muscles.

They've been on an off with their relationship. Kent said it's like this very often, Stefani- well, Stefani doesn't care. She laughs whenever she says something that pushes Kent's buttons. I mostly linger in the hallways quietly listening in and trying not to laugh at Stefani's remarks, but I stayed in bed for as long as possible until I heard slamming and Kent trying to talk.

I really shouldn't laugh at that but the hard time she gives Kent when I've yet experience something like that just makes me feel so accomplished-

"Heyyyyy it's been forever!" I hear a familiar voice greeting someone.

"We see eachother all the time jeez," I giggled to myself to the sound of Stefani's voice. That must be Rachel. I'm not too entirely big on unexpected guests- especially when it's made clear that Rachel is probably the only friend Stefani has.

"We should definitely go get our nails done!" Rachel gushes and I turn the water off.

"After I make Lillian breakfast."

I tried to imagine the expression Stefani had as I dried off, but it was easier to visualize her having no expression... typical.

"Your pretty step mom that I could've sworn you didn't like and here you are cooking for her?!" Rachel exclaimed and I tried my best to contain a laugh in the bathroom because it's really hollow in here.

"Keep your voice down!" Stefani hushed her.

I applied my moisturizer and finished my skin care as I stepped out the bathroom and an indulging scent caught my nose as I walked down the hall to the bedroom in my robe.

I couldn't help it, I turned around and headed out towards the kitchen, "that smells really good Stefani, I'll be out in a minute. Hello Rachel," I waved at the two young women who were looking at me wide eyed.

"Uh-yes. H-hi Mrs. Edwards," Rachel flushed a light a shade of pink and Stefani remained silent.

I headed back down the hall and my eyes averted to the sight of the city as I heard faint whispers in the background.

"You can't tell me she's not hot. And you live with her!" Rachel whisper yelled.

"Shhh!" Stefani retorts and I leaned against the wall to linger just a second longer.

"Oh please, she's getting dressed. You can say it," Rachel pushes.

"Say what?!" I could feel Stefani becoming more and more impatient with whatever it is Rachel wants her to spit out.

"That she's attractive!" I hear a slight pat and a giggle. I know Stefani isn't the type to giggle so it must be Rachel.

"I like girls, not my step mom!" Stefani corrected her and I couldn't help but cover my mouth trying to keep to myself.

"You're step mom is a girl," Rachel teased.

"You are entirely wrong. That is a woman... and that alone is enough to verify that she is surely out of my league," Stefani responds calmly and it's only the sound of the hot skillet sizzling- god what is she cooking, it smells amazing.
