My entire family had come for a family gathering. Well, only my grandparents, cousins, aunties and uncles from my dad's side. And it's a tradition for you to introduce your partner to your entire family. Maybe not literally everyone but, most of them. And that is what I'll be doing.

I'll be introducing my boyfriend, Ponyboy. And sometimes my family is a little judgy so it could be slightly hard to impress them.

I've been with Pony since high school. Ever since he asked me out to the dance, we've been together ever since. Now we're both in college and we had enough money to afford a house together. My parents already knew Pony when I introduced him back in high school, gladly they liked him. Right now, they're having another honeymoon? I don't know. The house is still near Tulsa so we can meet up with the gang but also close to our college.

"Pony, when are you going to look away from that mirror?" I found him sitting in front of the mirror, in our room. "Sorry, I'm just really nervous."

"You were more nervous to meet my parents, you almost cried." I joked. "Yeah well I was a kid." He said. "And we're both young adults now, you shouldn't be so nervous. Just like I said years ago. Be confident and sure in what you're doing and everything you say. And agree to pretty much everything they say." He nodded.

"Now will you help me by cleaning up the living room please?" I asked. "Okay baby." He kisses my forehead as we continue to clean the house.

"Baby, you ready?" Said Pony, from downstairs. "Yeah I just finished." I fluffed up my hair and rushed downstairs. "Sweets, were gonna meet your family. Not go out on a date." He said, smirking. "Oh shut up." I hit him playfully. We could hear the car pull up and the doorbell rang.

I opened it to see my cousins first. "Hey you! I haven't seen you in ages. My god, you are a beut!" I said, hugging my cousin Stacy. "Stop it, look at you!" "Come in! Hey Wesley, Ian. Hey Auntie!" I kept on going.

Everyone was comfortable inside, Pony was nowhere to be seen. Probably upstairs.

"Hey everyone, it's very nice to see you all again and gathering with you. Just like old times. I'm sincerely sorry for not being in most of your family gatherings since I've been very busy with college and everything." I started. "I'd like for you all to meet someone, since it is tradition to introduce your partner to your family." I said, smiles and gasps fill the room.

"Ponyboy, get down here!" I yelled from upstairs. I heard footsteps coming down. Pony stands next to me.

"Guys, this is my boyfriend Ponyboy Curtis. I know his name might be a little strange but, a strange name won't stop me from falling in love." I said. "Hey everyone, Ponyboy Curtis. You can call me Pony." He said. Everyone was dead silent.

I broke the silence. "Okay so why don't we eat? The foods in the kitchen, get yourself a plate and we'll have a nice talk back here. Shall we?" I lead them to the kitchen. Talks filled the room. I look at Pony, he looks back at me. We gave each other a look, saying 'what a save!'

• after the gathering •

I sit down on the couch with Pony, tired. I rest my head on his chest. "Didn't think introducimg your lover to your entire family was tiring." I said, he chuckled and said,

"Man, I had a great bond with your cousins. Your grandmother was a little hard to impress." "Yeah she's a pretty stubborn person." I said. "But I'm glad that's over with."

"Me too, now that it's only us in here..." He kisses me.

   "Oh Ponyboy..."
