*Three months later*

Y/n's POV

March was a little bit of a strange month to get married, but we couldn't wait any longer. Before we knew it the week of our wedding rolled around. Bruce had moved back and Rhodey was back living with Tony. We were holding the ceremony in England so the group of us would be flying over the following day. Natasha had planned most of the wedding, choosing the colour scheme and having the biggest say on venue and bridesmaid dresses. Pepper was going to be our bridesmaid, as well as Morgan and Harriet. Harriet was going to be a flower girl but Bruce would help her as she still hadn't learnt to walk.

After dinner on the spring morning I returned from packing to find Bruce watching cartoons with her. She was sitting on his lap and he was bouncing his knee as he watched the tv. I smiled and joined my fiance at the computer. She was making final confirmation with the venue. We were renting a large house with pretty gardens where we were going to hold the ceremony. The weather was forecasted to be warm and sunny which was a nice contrast to the drizzle that had hung in the air for the past few weeks.

Natasha was humming to herself, the song she had written me about our first trip to Cornwall. The trip that had kick started our life together. If it wasn't for that leap of faith we wouldn't be here; just a couple days before our wedding with a gorgeous daughter that we were going to watch grow up to become a strong woman like Natasha.

I knew that there were things about Nat's past that I didn't know but that was okay because I loved her for who she was now. I hoped that one day she would be ready to tell me but if she didn't then I would still be there at any moment to comfort her no matter what I did or didn't know. As she glanced back at our daughter she began to hum another song. I recognised it as an old song, a song my father had listened to on record. I thought hard to remember the song. I hadn't heard it in years, but it reminded me of when I was a little girl and we would sing it on our way home from my riding lessons.

"American pie." I mumbled, remembering the words enough to recall the name of the song.

"Huh?" Natasha looked up at me.

"You were humming American pie."

"Oh, yeah." She replied faintly. Her face dropped as she looked back at the computer. I could tell something was on her mind as she ran her fingers through her red roots.

"You okay?" I asked, placing a hand on her arm.

"Always." She put on a smile but her eyes still seemed sad.

We finished up the work and joined Bruce on the sofa. Steve had ordered pizza for dinner and had gone to collect it from the front gate.

The following day we had a tiny lay-in before packing the quinjet, we had both wedding dresses, all the suits and bridesmaid dresses as well as normal clothes and anything we needed for the next week. We were flying there on Monday and getting married on Tuesday. We would then treat it like a holiday and the others would return home on the Sunday. Natasha, Harriet and I would stay in Cornwall until the following Wednesday in order to have a couple of days on our own.

Steve piloted as per usual whilst we chatted in the back. Natasha put on her music in the stereo. It started with a song by Sia and I danced with Harriet on my back. We sang to her and Bruce laughed. I was glad that our little family were all coming back together. Tony and Steve were still a little tense and didn't talk a lot when we were together but they were civil and laughed together.

The next song rang through the speakers and once again I watched Natasha's face drop into a sad expression.

"So, bye-bye, Miss American Pie
