"We've been stuck here for half a year, Thomas" Vince continues "and now you want to take our strongest survivors and wander off on some random part of the map based off of an assumption from a girl who's literally a walking zombie?", I glare lividly at Vince "zombie or not, who's helping you find WICKED instead of letting you chase your own sorry butts around the Scorch?" I snap acidly "I may be weak, but that don't mean I can't punch the living daylights out of you if you dare to talk so lowly towards me" I threaten sordidly. All orbs but Thomas's widen "I trust Rose" Thomas justifies me "her instincts have saved us more times than we give her credit for, I would gladly chase my own sorry butt around the Scorch if it meant she told me to because she had an assumption", I send a grateful smile towards Thomas, he smiles back, my heart flutters and I grow oddly nervous "we don't even know what's there" Vince insists "they called it the Last City" I inform him "it's their base of operations", we twist our heads towards the doorway to find a silhouetted figure there. The golden lights from behind them deeming it almost impossible to identify the stranger, but the obvious accent reveals them, Jorge "I was there a few years ago", the man informs us, stepping into the light of our room, I send him a greeting smile, one that he returns "if the City is still standing, that is the last place you want to go, Hermana, it's the lion's den" he warns "it's not like we didn't already know that" Thomas bites, fidgeting with his hands as he gnaws upon his lower lip in mull, I mimick the gesture as I momentarily gawk. Watching the tender, smooth surface of his lip, but I blink out of my odd daze "we just need a plan-", "we had a plan, Thomas!" Vince attests "several months worth of planning, countless armed men and women ready to take action, the element of surprise, but now we have none of that! Everyone is ready to leave for the Safe Haven, and we don't have anymore time to waste!" Vince shouts iratedly "but, Vince, I was thinking-", "are you not listening to me, Thomas?! We don't have the time or the energy! We can't just run into this unprepared!". "We've done it before-", "AND WHEN I DID NOT PREPARE, I LOST EVERYTHING!", shouting in rage, the man slams his fists onto the table, causing us to jolt, images of him sobbing onto Mary's lifeless body flash across my mind, heavy silence follows Vince's yell "I know, I did too", with wide orbs, I met Thomas's bashful gaze, my breath hitches as the comment subtly refers to me, Vince follows Thomas's diverted gaze, sighing heavily as he gazes at Thomas penitently "I cannot risk it, Thomas, I will not", the low conclusion of the topic causes tears to accumulate around my rims. "No" I breathe out quietly "you don't understand, Vince", my lip trembles as I fight to restrain my tears, not wishing to appear weak and vulnerable "you have no idea what they did to me" I whisper softly as a sole tear betrays my barrier "now that I'm not there to restrain them, they won't show him any mercy", I begin to pant heavily at the thought of their unique form of torture for him "and why not?", my gaze links with Vince's, gazing straight into his soul, hoping to find his empathy to assist me. "When we were there, they had me endure tests, ones that would determine if I had the Cure" I reply, my hands tremble as they curl inward, memories of what WICKED enacted upon me flashing across my mind "what do you mean endure?" Vince probes, my hands begin to turn white from the hindered blood flow "hey, it's okay" Newt reassures me, placing his warm hand upon my own "you don't have to answer" he smiles warmly, I return the gesture, although it's weak "I suffered, from the moment the Berg flew off with us to the moment you guys saved us, I was suffering, WICKED had a very unique way to test me for the Cure, I don't know how, but they forced me to face my worst fears, every time my eyes would close for the past six months, I had to tolerate the Terrors WICKED had for me, and if I didn't, they would hurt him, I was a distraction, I allowed WICKED to do whatever they wanted with me without fighting back in fear they would hurt him, everything I did, everything I endured, everything was to protect Minho", I notice Newt's hands are curled tauntly. His features stretch as he attempts to hinder his anger, although he isn't the only one that harbors this tense and livid outlook, Thomas is similar to him "I like to think that's how I know he's there", I point to the spot again "since our rooms were alongside each other, we grew familiar with each other's presence, I can practically feel him", Vince's serious gaze crashes towards me "who was in charge of you?", my orbs flicker towards Thomas, who gazes at me addledly "Teresa", I notice his breathing stops momentarily as his orbs widen and his wrathful curled fist loosen. I send him a sorrowful gaze, aware that he harbors earnestness towards the Betrayer "but something went wrong", all attention redirects towards me "my tests weren't showing any sign of the Cure, yet they deemed me healthy enough to be Immune", with that Newt relaxes slightly "but Minho's were different from mine", all the orbs in the room widen "what do you mean, Rose?" Vince probes, although I'm certain he already knows the answer, with the heavy silence in the room, I exhale shakily, tears arising within the rims of my orbs "they think Minho is the Cure".
