"*yawn* Kiyopon? Was it really necessary to have us wake up this early just so we could cram in one more study session?"
The weekend passed quickly as students, at least those who were very serious at doing well in tests, put their utmost focus into reviewing all of their study materials. For Class 2B, that meant not only conducting self study in most of their free time, but also attending the mandatory study sessions also held over the weekend.
However, for Kiyotaka's study group, that weekend study session was not enough. When the final group study session on Sunday ended, Kiyotaka ordered the group to attend a very early morning revision session just before the first midterm exams to cram in just a little extra time. The entirety of Kiyotaka's study group had snagged one of the group study rooms in their dorm to conduct this session.
"A last minute session means that you can memorise little points and words that might be very important for the midterms. I'm not asking you to memorise everything like you did the last couple of days, but just small parts that will make it easier. That's the point of this early session."
"But it's still only just past 7 in the morning. You told us to wake up after 5am and get here for 6am just to study, but we're still really tired," Haruka complained with tired near teary eyes.
"What time did you go to sleep?" Kiyotaka asked with slightly narrowed eyes, probing Haruka for information which unsurprisingly caused her to inwardly sweat.
"...Nearly 1am...?"
Kiyotaka's eyes narrowed further.
"Did I not tell you to go to sleep early so you can be refreshed and ready for this last cram in and the actual midterms? This is your own fault."
"T-that... Okay, yes that was my fault. But I did try to sleep earlier like you told us to, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't sleep at that time. My body wouldn't let me! I'm sure other people have this problem too!"
Kiyotaka looked at the others to see whether they were in agreement. He was sure the others wouldn't, however he was in for a surprise.
"Sorry, Kiyotaka. But I agree with Haruka-chan," Kei answered reluctantly, stretching after reviewing one last section of her study materials. "At our age, we're used to staying up so late so waking up at this time just to study is kinda... not cool?"
Mori, Akito, Satou, Haruka and Ichihasi all nodded in agreement, surprising Kiyotaka. Then again, when he thought about it, it wasn't all too surprising since this type of study format was actually similar to what he faced in the White Room. Therefore, it wasn't quite humane.
"I see," He said while fiddling around with a bag directly next to him. After a bit of fiddling, he pulled out a certain tool from the bag and pointed it to everyone in the room. It was none other than a power drill used for building. Kiyotaka pressed the button to power it on before speaking up.
"Should I drill all of this knowledge into you all?" He said with the most straight expressionless face that was pretty much all too common for Kiyotaka.
Unsurprisingly, everyone in the room was startled. To see Kiyotaka bring a drill out, power it on and point it directly at them while trying to tell a joke with the straightest face ever was more than scary.
"Mou! Geez Kiyotaka! Don't scare us like that!" Kei shouted, recovering from the startling action.
"Kiyopon. If you're gonna tell a joke, at least say it with a different expression on your face. You actually looked like a killer when you brought out that power drill and pointed it at us." Haruka said with a dead fish stare.
"Did I?"
""YES!""
"I see."
"By the way, Kiyotaka. Why do you have a power drill with you?" Akito asked the all important question that everyone in the room was thinking.
"Yousuke, Sudou and I went to the DIY shop to pick up some tools for when they need to build the stage and the cafe environment. For some reason, it was decided that we'd temporarily keep the tools in my room until we actually need to use them. And I forgot I still had it in my bag, so here they are."
Power drills. Hammers. Nails. Screws. Every single tool that they believed they needed, they bought. Luckily the tools were inexpensive, so they were able to keep within the budget set by Mei-Yu and Yukimura.
"Enough of that for now. You guys need to get back to studying the last few materials. I guarantee you that this will be helpful when we start the midterms today. Luckily for you guys, this is the only time I will get you all to wake up this early again this week. But that will only be if you can confidently say you can pass today's midterm exams. Understood?"
""Yes Sensei!""
Kiyotaka was sure his group would pass fine. Of course, he was also going to be alright as all the material that the midterms were covering was stuff he had already covered as part of the White Room.
He also hoped that all the other study groups were progressing well. Of course, the results of them wouldn't come until a few weeks later, but the class would receive a huge bollocking from Kiyotaka and even Chabashira if they didn't do well. Kiyotaka thought it would be best not to think about that for a little bit.
What was more important to him now was what came after the Midterms.
Yes. The Student Council President elections.
