Part 5

"Can I say? It was right to snuff out

Every foe I could find, what about me?

Dark Sun!

You shone like a threat, waiting to strike.

Dark sun!

But somehow you fed.

My hunger for a life, not ruled by your night."

During the evening of that same day, Kiyotaka, having had enough for the day, relaxed on his sofa watching TV. Kei had been getting into quite a few anime lately, and due to that, the two of them had marathon sessions during the evening whenever they were free.

It had become quite common that sometimes whenever Kei was not able to be with him for the evening, she would ask if Kiyotaka could watch a certain show for her and tell her what happened. Tonight happened to be one of those evenings.

"Dark sun!

Wherever you shine, Eyes turn away

Dark sun!

What choices have I?

But live another day, live another day.

Live one more day!"

As the opening of the anime ended, Kiyotaka entered his thoughts quickly before refocusing his attention to the show.

Though he didn't particularly dislike watching anime, Kiyotaka found reading was more worth his time than consistently watching anime. However, Kiyotaka couldn't complain as watching shows like this was something he did not get to do in the White Room. The word "anime" was more foreign to him than actually watching it.

In the end, despite finding the idea weird, Kiyotaka couldn't help himself but just watching certain shows that looked interesting to him. He didn't grow overly attached to the point he would rave about it on social media like Sotomura or certain other otaku's, but he certainly felt some sort of attachment, especially if he was able to watch it with Kei.

"Days after the report of his suicide, the identity of the teenage ringleader remains unknown as we wait for any updates on the truth of the matter. Up next, the general election after the dissolution of the Diet. Today, all eyes are on Masayoshi Shido, leader of the United Future Party who is set to make a public announcement."

"The criminals calling themselves the Phantom Thieves are no more. However, I believe that this country's citizens are still living their days in anxiety. These scandals, as well as the dissolution of the National Diet, has increased our distrust in the government. As a citizen myself, I am enraged! What does it mean to be a politician with responsibility? Working toward personal gain without consideration of the country is outrageous."
