Part 2

The moment he heard Kei was in danger, all Kiyotaka could think about was rescuing her.

Of course, Kei meeting the assassin was planned in advance by the pair, so he wasn't surprised that Kei had been contacted by them and went to see them in person. The biggest chance to get through to Kiyotaka was to target the person closest to him; Information about this should have reached the assassin through Tsubaki Sakurako.

That was why he had someone watch over Kei since she went on her break. That person should be helping her at the moment and, according to Airi, he was. But also according to Airi, that wasn't enough. The person he and Kei were facing was Kei's father, who appeared to be quite strong, and there were also a few guards probably under the assassin's leadership there too.

And to top all that, Kei's father was trying to rape her. As her boyfriend, he couldn't let that slide even if that person was helping her. Kiyotaka felt a strong sense of anger flowing through his nervous system, an impulse to kill the person that claimed to be Kei's father. He never felt like this before, not even when Ryuuen was torturing Kei just last year. He definitely changed.

That being said, Kiyotaka didn't waste any time. He rushed off with Airi towards Keyaki Mall in the heavy rain. Surprisingly, even Kouenji tagged along, citing that Kiyotaka needed all the help he could get.

According to reports from Sakayanagi and Ryuuen, there were outsourced security staff patrolling Keyaki Mall. This was so visitors could be turned away back to the festival grounds if they took a wrong turn, and also so Keyaki Mall staff could have fun at the Cultural Festival. But as soon as the trio approached the mall entrance, there was no such staff on site. It made sense since Kei likely would have been turned away if they were still here, no matter the reason. But that made Kiyotaka realise the staff were under the assassin's control too.

Nevertheless, the trio quickly entered through the mall's front entrance. Their destination was the top floor so they could access the staff only entrance to the rooftop. Airi directed him through the mall, there were no obstacles in their course, so this was going to be quick.

At least that's what should have happened.

As soon as they got close to the stairs that led to the next floor, a lone male stood in their path, blocking their way forward. He was wearing a standard Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School male uniform, indicating that he was a student. His brown hair and green eyes were easily recognisable to Kiyotaka as he narrowed his eyes towards the boy.

"Can we help you, Yagami?" Kiyotaka asked.

"Nice to see you again, Ayanokouji-senpai. Are you going to rescue Karuizawa-senpai? She's on the rooftop of the mall. The staff doorway to it is just to your left when you reach the third floor," Takuya explained.
