The Midterm exams would only last 3 out of the 6 days the students were in school. Immediately after those 3 days were over, the school would advertise the student council president elections, with the voting period on the Monday next week and results on the Tuesday the next day.
Before that time, it was up to the candidates to decide how they were going to run their campaigns. That meant, for Kiyotaka and Ichinose, they would need to spend the little freetime in between each midterm exams in order to plan their campaigns.
Luckily for the two of them, they were smart enough that they didn't need to spend so much time reviewing all the study materials like their peers did. That translated to more time to plan for their campaigns.
The problem? Kiyotaka didn't know how to run a campaign. How could he? With barely any contact with the outside world before coming to ANHS, it was too difficult for him to learn how to do anything related to school campaigns and whatnot.
"Ayanokouji-senpai. Can I ask you something first before we begin discussing what we should do for your campaign?"
Though he didn't say it out loud when she asked, that was part of the reason why he accepted Nanase's help. Working with someone who probably had more experience with this sort of thing was definitely a benefit.
"Go ahead."
"I already know the real reason you're aiming to become the student council president. It's in order to have a position where you have more control over the school so that you can plan tactics to fight your father, right?" She asked.
"Something like that."
"That actual reason won't get you votes. In order to win the votes of students, you need to outline goals and changes you want to make should you be elected. And it shouldn't just be any change that you personally want to make. It needs to be ones that resonate with the student body. Otherwise, people will go vote for the other party."
Indeed, in general elections for government, the party who made pledges that went well with the general public would generally garner more votes. However, politics was a very heavy grey area that could easily bring wrongdoings. Even if one party had ambitions that were obviously better than the other party, one wrong move or even one single detail that the party leader made had the possibility to push potential voters away to vote for the other party.
The same could easily be said for a student council president election, especially for a highly accredited institution like Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School which had direct influences from the government.
"So, what are your ambitions that you intend to do if you are elected as the student council president?"
Kiyotaka, of course, had a couple of ideas of what to implement that he believed would work best with the student body. However, they were still more beneficial to him rather than to the entire student body. Knowing that, he still decided to explain some of the ideas he had.
