When the end of the school day arrived, Kiyotaka rose from his seat and was immediately approached by a horde of his classmates. Satou Maya, Matsushita Chiaki, Mei-Yu Weng, Maezono and even Kei approached him. He had already guessed what they were going to ask him, so he raised his hand and nodded to say he'd go with them.
They exited the classroom and made their way outside the classroom. Normally at this time, Kiyotaka would be trekking to the Student Council room, at least nowadays. Being the Student Council President meant dedicating time after school to conduct Student Council work. However, Kiyotaka messaged Ichinose in advance to say he was forgoing student council work at least until the meeting on Friday to focus on the cultural festival. Ichinose already planned on doing the same, so their interests were affiliated.
"Ayanokouji-kun," Mei-Yu asked as they walked past the school's main entrance/exit. "Aren't we going to go to the special building to see if we can rent that area out?"
Yes, today's outing with the girls was to scout out suitable locations to use for their cultural festival plan. Previously, when the girls were presenting the idea to Horikita, they had rented a room in the special building to use, thanks to the connection Kiyotaka had with Hiromu Akane the music teacher. Mei-Yu believed it would be best to use that venue again, but...
"If we were doing a normal one, then the classroom in the special building you girls used back then would have been perfect. It's specifically because ours is anything but normal that I don't think we can use the special building."
Kiyotaka avoided stating the words "maid cafe" to ensure the students from other classes passing by the group couldn't hear what they're still hidden cultural festival plans were.
"Ah. You're talking about that, aren't you Kiyotaka?" Kei replied, understanding the implications of being roundabout with their conversation.
That, of course, referred to the KiyoKei band, which Kiyotaka was still petitioning to have the name changed. Alongside the maid cafe, the KiyoKei band were set to perform songs on a stage inside the cafe when given time. The band itself was large, so the stage to perform on also needed to be large. Unfortunately for them, classrooms in the special building were too small to hold both the maid cafe and a stage large enough for the band. It wasn't like they could just tear down the walls to fix it.
Hearing Kei point it out that way was enough for the girls to understand Kiyotaka's reasoning without saying anymore. They needed a venue that was large enough to accommodate both the maid cafe and a stage for the KiyoKei band at the bare minimum.
The classrooms were just too small no matter if it was the main building or the special building. Doing it outside was the next best choice, and there were spots they could rent outside, but it just didn't seem practical enough for them. Plus, a maid cafe outside during the November cold month wasn't exactly the best idea. For Kiyotaka, that only left two remaining places in his mind and the group soon arrived at one of them.
