Part 2

That same evening, Kiyotaka took the time to turn on his computer and do some information digging. What he was searching for wasn't that important, but he believed it was helpful for what was to come soon during the cultural festival.

But his research was immediately halted as he saw his phone ring and a name he expected to see but one he didn't want now. Kiyotaka considered ignoring it, but considering who it was calling he probably wouldn't hear the end of the phone ringing after this one.

Begrudgingly, he tapped on the answer button and brought the phone to his ears.

"Yes?"

"Ayanokouji. You know why I'm calling, right?" The voice on the other end started.

"I might have an idea."

"That attitude of yours really annoys me. But as long as you know, then meet me outside by the view of the lake in the next 10 minutes."

The call ended promptly after that. Seeing as though he didn't have a choice, Kiyotaka got ready and began making his way outside the second year dormitories.

The short walk towards the view of the lake took no time at all, to the point Kiyotaka wished he had more time to enjoy the night. For what was about to happen, enjoyment was the very last thing on the list. He at least wanted to enjoy this autumn night sky as much as possible, but that just wasn't possible at this moment.

Just as he expected, the person who requested Kiyotaka's presence was waiting for him. Kanzaki Ryuji leaned on the railings, but straightened as Kiyotaka got closer. Things were about to get serious.

"That was pretty bold of you to announce my true identity in front of everyone back then. Did you ever think of the implications? Or the consequences?" Kiyotaka said as he approached.

Such a thing had been bothering him since. While there was no explanation as to why Kanzaki took so long to realise Kiyotaka's background, promulgating it in front of Ichinose and Hirata—leaving Kei and Haruka aside—was unreasonable, even for Kanzaki himself who appeared to have some understanding.

In addition to that, confronting in front of others was not something Kanzaki usually did. Like Kiyotaka, he was a behind the scenes person, preferring to plan and approach from the background, hidden in plain sight. The many times he confronted Kiyotaka, and when he confronted Ryuuen after the final special exam of their first year, everything was behind closed bars.

"When someone as dangerous as you is roaming around this elite high school, the implications and consequences matter none. What matters is protecting the class and climbing the ranks to the top. It's all about the results. Isn't that the type of person you are? The type of people the Ayanokouji family are?"
