"Hi there! Do you have a moment? Please take this flyer and vote for Ayanokouji Kiyotaka-kun. Thank you!"
"Excuse me! Can I borrow your time? Please take this flyer to read and vote for Ayanokouji Kiyotaka-senpai. He's going to make Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School great again! Thank you!"
"...Hey. Please take this and vote for me. You won't regret it."
The next day, in the early morning, Kiyotaka met up with Kei and Nanase to set up a stand in front of the school. The stand was the same as that of the poster Kiyotaka saw yesterday, however, the flyers they were handing out to students making their way to the school were of a different design by the two girls.
This was an idea generated by Nanase as a means of communicating with the student body about Kiyotaka's candidacy. Although annoying, it was an easy means of marketing a partaking party, and of course, Nanase and Kei also planned to leave some more flyers in front of student dorm rooms.
"Hi there! Please take this flyer and vote for Ayanokouji Kiyotaka-kun. There's a drop-in debate session tomorrow where you can ask him and Ichinose-san questions. You'll see why Ayanokouji-kun is the better choice though. Thank you!"
"Good morning to you, Senpai. Please take this flyer and consider voting for Ayanokouji Kiyotaka-senpai. He'll be the best student council president you know. There's also a debate session tomorrow if you want to attend. You can also find out that he'll be the best choice there. Thank you for your time!"
Kiyotaka sighed. These two girls simply had too much energy at this time in the morning. They had been up since 5:30am, and yet both Kei and Nanase were acting all hyper trying to promote Kiyotakja's candidacy. He could understand Nanase being like this somewhat, but considering what Kei was like during the really early morning study sessions, he was surprised she had this much energy for this morning.
But he couldn't complain. The two of them were definitely doing better than him getting the attention of passing students and handing them these flyers. Kiyotaka wasn't fairing as well, but that might have been due to his lack of energy and his unchanging expression that made him difficult to talk to.
The three of them continued this tirade all the way up until there was about 5 minutes until homeroom.
"Well well. What do we have here?"
However, just as soon as the three were ready to pack up the stand and make their way to their respective classrooms, a new figure entered their area. Unsurprisingly, it was none other than the current student council president himself, Nagumo Miyabi.
He was accompanied by Kiriyama and his two secretaries - Mizuwaki and Tonokawa. The latter stared at Kiyotaka momentarily, causing Kiyotaka to do the same for a moment before focusing back on Nagumo.
"Good morning, President," Kiyotaka said, deciding to greet him. "The girls and I were just putting away our stand so that we could start the morning. So don't mind us, if you will."
"Now now, Ayanokouji." Nagumo laughed before continuing. "You don't have to hastily run away. I already know you're trying to garner support for your running for the student council president position."
Nagumo walked closer toward Kiyotaka.
"I remember you mentioning something to me during the sports festival. Something along the lines of 'Are you proud of everything you have done for this school?' or whatever. I thought you were just looking down on me, but now I realise that you weren't."
He stopped short of Kiyotaka, stopping to look at the girls taking down the stand.
"Earlier last week, I was told that the rule I implemented of me retaining my position as the student council president until I graduated was being vetoed and that I would be removed for a new student council president to be elected. The timing for that happening after you asked me that question couldn't have been a coincidence. Did you perhaps choreograph that to happen? Did you do that just so you could become the president and ridicule me? Be honest with me Ayanokouji."
The surrounding students, including Kei, Nanase, Kiriyama and the secretaries, all began to notice the air around them felt stiff. The confrontation between Nagumo and Kiyotaka seemed to be turning deadly, yet neither of them noticed the onlookers or really cared.
"Nothing of the sort, President Nagumo. The school chose to do that of its own volition. It would be wrong on the school to do it just because one student didn't like the tyrannical reign of the current monarch. I do have my own reasons for running for the student council president position and none of them have to do with destroying you or anything of the sorts." Kiyotaka answered.
"Hoh?"
Of course all of that was true. While Kiyotaka had met with Chairman Sakayanagi and did indeed ask questions about the student council position, Kiyotaka didn't directly tell the Chairman to remove Nagumo from the position to allow a newcomer to take it. Kiyotaka only told Chairman Sakayanagi to do what he thought was best. All the decisions were made by him and the school board.
"You are making a lot of sense there, so your reasoning seems believable. However, I'm not sure if I can trust it one hundred percent. It still seems like you're hiding something and that you were definitely involved somehow. These all can't be coincidences."
"You can believe what you want, President Nagumo. But I have only told you the truth and nothing else."
"Hahaha. Well then I guess we will continue to agree to disagree." Nagumo then turned to face Kiyotaka with a much more serious yet still smug expression. "Well, even though I will lose my position within the student council, my power will still reign strong, especially when Honami takes over. You won't be able to beat her, even with your better reputation now. So why don't you stand down and just let her take the throne."
It appeared...
"Is that a threat towards me?" Kiyotaka asked carefully.
"Nothing of the sort, Candidate Ayanokouji. I chose to say that randomly of my own violation. It would be wrong on the current president to threaten a random student on campus grounds. I do have my own reasons for telling you that though and threatening you isn't one of them."
"...If that was your idea of a joke, I think you should consider early retirement as a comedian."
The smile on Nagumo's face instantly vanished as his anger began to take control once again. However, he controlled himself before letting his emotions get the better of him.
"Either way, you won't win the elections. So don't even bother with these stands or whatever. Honami will be my successor and that's that." Nagumo said nothing more and walked off with his lackeys following after him.
Kiyotaka watched him leave until he was inside the school. He then turned back to Kei and Nanase who looked at him worryingly. He shook his head to say that he was alright and they should refocus on their task.
He looked back towards the school while the two girls finished off. The look that Tonokawa gave him towards the end definitely caught his eye. It was as if she almost found a new gem in him, but was still being wary. It seemed that whatever Kiryuuin said was correct. Kiyotaka was hoping he could get in contact with her soon.
