Finally, Saturday came. After a long period of preparation, the day of the Cultural Festival was finally here.
The festival proper began at nine in the morning and students were required to arrive at school by eight to begin their preparations and shifts. Furthermore, the school gates were actually open starting at six in the morning, so, if necessary, respective classes could make early morning preparations as well.
At that time really early in the morning, Kiyotaka exited the elevator and began walking to the school. Thankfully, unlike the other students who Kiyotaka noticed also having the same idea as him, Kiyotaka was somewhat used to waking up this early when doing early morning runs across the campus. Other students who woke up this time to also get started early probably were not the same as him.
That aside, he arrived at the great hall in no time at all and entered. There, he found five people already waiting for him. Horikita, Hirata, Mei-Yu, Yukimura and Sotomura were all conversing together by the entryway. Upon seeing their leader arrive, they turned to him.
"Morning Kiyotaka-kun. Did you sleep alright?" Hirata asked on behalf of everyone.
"Morning. I slept like any other day."
"Really? Not even nervous or anything at all?" Yukimura asked.
"I would be lying if I said I didn't feel anything, but nervous isn't exactly a word I would use to describe how I feel."
Was it confidence? Was it concern? Was it anticipation? Kiyotaka really didn't understand what he was feeling right now, but he was definitely feeling something and he wasn't sure how to feel about it.
"What about you guys? You all seem to be ready. And Mii-chan, you're looking much better now, right?"
"Ah! Yes. I'm feeling better now thanks to the medicine you all got me early. Thanks for that!"
As Kiyotaka and Kei had suspected on the day of the cultural festival trial, Mei-Yu had fallen ill the next day. However, thanks to the couple's quick thinking, they had bought medicine for Mei-Yu and she was ordered to take it that evening before it even developed. That allowed her body cells to fight the virus quickly and she luckily recovered enough that she could work today. Perhaps Mei-Yu's good health helped out with her recovery too.
"Don't push yourself too hard, Mii-chan. We don't want you getting sick all over again," Hirata warned, causing Mei-Yu to blush at his concern. She still had a huge crush on him after all.
"It's good that we'll have everyone though. Projections are set for this maid cafe to blow. We have maids, butlers, a band, great food and an arcade. This will definitely be MAXIMUM EFFORT!!!!"
"...Were you referencing something, Sotomura-san? Didn't you say you ditched your otaku persona last year?" Yukimura asked.
"JUST BECAUSE I LEARNED THE WAYS OF BEING NORMAL DOESN'T MEAN I STILL CAN'T BE LIKE THE OLD ME!" Sotomura exclaimed.
