Wrote this late last night so if it's any good is questionable.
Coach:
Coach noticed the signs. The scratching, the excessive talking of it, irritation. All that. But he discarded it as recovery signs. A good thing. Thought of you as a strong one for resisting the urges.
But then the signs stopped and you had this relieved sense. A part of him hope it meant you passed the tough task of denying the mind and body what it so desires. But he knew it meant you relapsed and satisfied the urges.
Coach struggled for few days on what he should do about it. Confront you? Let you be? You are still tagging along, as if nothing changed, so maybe he should just ignore it. But it felt wrong. Yet... is it worth during times like these?
In the end he did not confront you, a slight hope you'll admit it yourself. So one random day, after a battle, both stood there staring at the scenery when you plainly stated; "I did it again." A second of silence but then Coach hummed, "I know" and a silence followed it. Both are exhausted, going to auto pilot to stay alive. Neither can bring care to what now feels like a minor side issue.
Rochelle:
The fact you even found the thing amongst this chaos is amazing. Less so that you are using it. She snatched it away so fast, asking a bit too loudly: "What are you doing?! You were doing good!"
It resulted in a big argument, which had to be pulled apart by another survivor as it was too loud it made all anxious of what could result due to it.
Both didn't talk for a while. Rochelle kept glaring your way, but not with anger but worry and understanding disapproval. She understands why you did it, very difficult to not relapse during these times, but she so hoped you would have kept it up.- Eventually she began talking with you again and she decided to just not be angry about it. Maybe it's even better now; that you have this one good thing that keeps you going. Or not.
Honestly... She is at her end, as well, only able to go with the very last energy she has. Energy that does not include babysitting you in how you should lead life.
Ellis:
Concern, that's all he felt. He wasn't disappointed, he gets why you are doing it again, but that didn't stop him from admitting he hopes it was a one time thing. You admitted you don't know so he gave a slow nod back, feeling so many things but saying nothing as it didn't feel like his place and if that's your only relief right now it wouldn't feel right to take away.
You noticed the next few days he was closer more, promising he's here for you if you need him and it came obvious very fast that he was sharing more strange stories and jokes to keep you entertained and mind on him instead of anything else.
Nick:
He knows the signs. He lived in Las Vegas, for fuck sake. Attended the casinos plenty of times and witnessed plenty of addicts in all kinds of states. This state was a clear paranoid one, where you were clearly trying to fight the urges but failing.
So he tried to help, distract you. But wasn't even an hour after when he saw you doing it anyway. Made him feel disappointed. When you looked he didn't even hide the disapproval. Getting such a face from a loved one, to know you crushed the expectation and hope they held for you, is a serious pain to the heart.
He didn't talk about it, mainly as he wasn't sure what he would even say. When you tried to discuss it he just shrugged, claiming: "Hey, your life. You do you. ... BUT I was rooting for you."
If you decide to really quit it then he'll gladly kick it all away and any future stuff of it keep it out of your sight of line. If you decide to start it again, then you do you. He might even join few times.
