(Y/n's Intro)
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal and We understand death only after it has placed its hands on someone we love.
(Y/n's Pov)
Laura Thalassa says the pain of loss is a deep wound that never fully heals, especially when the loss is sudden and unexpected.
Sherry L. Parrish conquers by adding that the most painful goodbyes are the ones that are never said, and the ones that leave you with a heart full of unanswered questions.
And an unknown author concludes by stating when someone you love becomes a memory, and the memory becomes a treasure, even when the goodbye is too soon.
Still, I never thought that I would be back here, I swore I would never come back here.
But when I got my invitation from my old transfiguration professor, now Headmistress, McGonagall, (as I was staying with my God brother Draco and his wife and newborn child Scorpius) to be the new Potions Professor 14 years ago, the promise I made to myself long ago was broken. If Draco hadn't convinced me to traverse the very bridge I was crossing to get to the school that I called home, a home that has seen falls of Monarchies, Empires, experienced War's, loss and death.
I probably would have burnt the letter the moment I was done reading it.(Flash Back)
It was like she was purposely rubbing salt into the old wound my father left behind above my heart.
'She wants me to take his old Position as Potions Professor!?
The gall on that witch!!!
If I didn't respect her so much I would pen that, that, that hag a howler this very minute'!!!!Draco came down the steps as he saw the silent raging boiling within me, which is why he spoke with cautious humor.
"Wow, what has that letter done to warrant your unbridled wrath Snape"?I then said quiet, silently seething as I breathed.
The anger I was feeling could practically curdle my very blood as I looked at the letter.
Physically restraining myself from casting a fyero spell because I could hear Scorpius was just being put down for his nap.
"Headmistress McGonagall is asking if I would like to become Hogwarts new Potions Professor".Draco then said, raising an eyebrow.
"And that makes you furious because"?
I cast a quick silencing spell around the Malfoy manors lounge area before I screamed, the floo fire reacting to my anger.
"Because it feels like she is replacing him!
(I then began pacing as I looked at Draco, pointing to the letter that lays innocently on the chair I was sitting on.)
He was Hogwarts Potions Master since before you and I were tinkled in our parents eyes.
He did above and beyond his job requirements and responsibilities to Hogwarts and yet she!
(The fire roared as of being breathed by a Hungarian horned tail.
Draco even flinched despite being at a safe, respectable, distance from the fireplace.
Then it calmed down before I went pacing somewhere else, Astoria wouldn't take kindly that I was wearing a trench into her floor boards.)
Has the audacity to ask if I want to be the new Potions Professor.
(The angry tears began falling down my face, practically feeling like lava on my burning cheeks.)
As if he didn't matter! As if anyone could continue his legacy!
Like he's being forgotten"!
Draco then said calmly, the sadness in his eye wasn't for his godfather, but for the pain I was suffering.
"But she didn't ask just anyone N/n, she asked you.
(The fire then went back to normal and my anger was melting away with every step Draco took.)
You are your father's legacy, not his position at the school.
(I glared at him, silently telling him to watch it.
I may not have been placed in the snake pit, asking the hat to not do it for my father's benefit, but I still had the bite of a serpent and those little scally assholes meant business.
Draco raised his hands in surrender and he said while approaching.)
What I meant is,
(He stopped in front of me and said softly.)
No one can hold a candle to what your father's done, and our old transfiguration professor knows the position deserves no one better,
(He then wiped a couple of tears that haven't dried on my face.)
Then the brightest Potions master that Severus Snape's ever taught/trained, his own daughter.
(I was three giggle shots short from the flood gates being opened and he knows it, but he also knew I needed to hear what he had to say.)
She knows what he's done, better than anyone, and you do too, only you can continue where he left off.
To make sure he's never forgotten".
