~3 Months Afterwards~
"Ready for this?" Dean asked.
Sam nodded, "I'm excited, but what if they don't like me?"
"They'll just have to learn to like you. I plan on having you around for a while." Dean leaned up and softly pecked Sam's lips. Sam smiled once the evanescent kiss ended. His fingers were now entangled in Dean's fingers.
"We should leave now. My babysitter can't stay much longer" Dean said, looking at his watch. With a small sigh, Sam let go of Dean's hands and they walked out of the office to their cars. Sam allowed Dean to go first so he could follow him to his house. The ride was slightly nerve-racking, for tonight was the night that Sam was going to meet Dean's kids.
Sam pulled into Dean's driveway as Dean was parking his car. Dean waited for Sam to park and climb out of his car.
"I can't wait for you to meet Justice and Austin" Dean said as they walked to the front door. Sam was quiet. "I want to you wait here for a minute. I'll tell you when to come in" Excitement was evident in Dean's tone. He walked into the door.
"Justice! Austin!" Sam heard him say from outside. A few seconds later, a young woman came out. She let out a small gasp of surprise.
"Oh, I'm sorry" Sam immediately apologized.
"You must be Sam" She observed, already over the shock of seeing him.
"Yeah" Sam replied shyly. Dean must've told her about them.
"I'm Amanda" She held out her hand for Sam to shake.
"You're the babysitter" Sam took her hand and shook it once.
She laughed, "that would be me. I've got to leave now, but it was nice to finally meet you"
Sam nodded, "Nice to meet you too"
Well, it looks like Dean has talked about me, he mused. She got into her car and pulled out of the driveway. Dean opened the door with a large smile and motioned for Sam to come in. As soon as he stepped into the house, both kids stared at him. Then Justice, Dean's younger daughter, hid behind Dean.
"C'mon, honey. Don't you want to meet Dad's new boyfriend?" Dean coaxed her. She shook her head no.
Sam got down on his knees to be at her level and held out his hand to her, "You're Justice right?" She nodded. "I'm Sam" Her response was to scoot further behind Dean. Sam got back up.
"I'm sorry she's so shy" Dean apologized, "It takes her a bit to warm up"
Sam felt a tug on his jeans. He looked down at the small boy, whose hand was still gripping the denim fabric of Sam's jeans.
"Hi! My name is Austin. I'm 6" he said excitedly.
Sam smiled, "Hi Austin. Your dad has told me a lot about you"
"You're really tall, kinda like a moose," observed Austin.
Sam smiled, "Would you believe I've heard that before?" His comment made Austin grin.
"Alright guys, It's time for bed. You both have school in the morning"
Both kids groaned, but walked to their bedrooms to wait for Dean.
"I'll be back after I bath these two. There's some beer in the fridge. Help yourself if you're thirsty" Dean told Sam before walking down the hall.
"I like Sam" Austin told Dean as he was saying goodnight.
"That's good. I like him too"
"Do you like him as much as you liked mommy?" Austin innocently asked.
Anger boiled through Dean, but he didn't let it show, "Yes Austin. I like him more than I ever liked your mother"
Austin smiled at his father and said goodnight. Dean walked into Justice's room next. She was already asleep, so he just kissed her forehead before quietly walking back out to the living room. Sam was sitting on the couch waiting for Dean. He already had two beers opened. Dean sat next to him and leaned into his side. Sam instinctively put an arm around Dean and handed him a bottle. They clinked the bottle necks before taking a sip of their beers, then set them back onto the coffee table in front of the couch.
"So, what do you think?" Dean asked.
"They're both like you" Sam smiled before pressing a kiss to Dean's temple.
"This is only the first time, too. They'll both be a lot more open soon. You're never going to get them to shut up" Dean smiled.
Sam leaned over to kiss Dean's lips. Dean didn't hesitate to reciprocate the kiss. His hands moved down to rest at the small of Sam's back. Sam's tongue slipped through Dean's slightly parted lips.
"Daddy?" a small girl's voice interrupted.
Sam and Dean quickly separated in surprise.
"What's wrong, Justice?" Dean asked, shifting his focus to his daughter with a slight blush. She proceeded to tell them about a bad dream she had, clutching a pastel pink stuffed rabbit.
"Why don't you sit with us for a little bit?" Sam suggested. Dean nodded and patted the couch between them. She climbed onto the empty space, already forgetting that she just walked in on her dad kissing his boyfriend. Both Sam and Dean comforted her until she fell back to sleep a few minutes later.
"I should get her back to bed" Dean thought out loud.
Sam nodded, "I should get going too. It's getting late, and we have work in the morning"
"I'll walk you out" Dean said, immediately getting up off the couch. He opened the door for Sam and followed him out to his car.
"I want to come over more often" Sam suggested, leaning against his car.
"Definitely" Dean smiled back, "Maybe next time I can get someone to watch the kids overnight and we can have the house to ourselves." He took a step closer to Sam.
"I actually enjoyed having them there. They are apart of your life, probably even more so then I am." Sam's hands, as if without his control, rested on Dean's waist.
"How did I ever deserve someone like you?"
Sam leaned in to softly kiss Dean's lips. It wasn't long before he pulled away again, saying, "I really have to go"
Dean smiled sadly, "I'll see you tomorrow then"
Sam nodded, "Goodnight"
"Night" Dean opened the car door for Sam, who climbed in and drove away, leaving Dean in his empty driveway. He sighed before walking back into his house, where he was greeted by his sleepy daughter. She rubbed her eyes and yawned.
"Why were you outside, Daddy?" she asked, still holding tightly onto her stuffed animal.
"I had to say goodbye to Sam"
"Is he coming back?" she asked.
"I want him too, but you, young lady, need to get to bed"
Without another word, she walked back to her bedroom. Dean followed her to make sure she made it back in her tired haze. Finally, Dean was able to collapse into his own bed, completely exhausted.
